tyres for road bike wheels?

N1K0LAI_DAN7EN1K0LAI_DAN7E

hi guys, have a bicycle with these wheels:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/rigida-nova-700c-/290708155116?pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&hash=item43af8e6aec#ht_500wt_1217

and yes i know there cheap wheels,

they currently have a set of cheap slick (non durable) racing tyres on them and i am looking for something more robust, i am wandering what i have to look for to make sure they will fit,

the current ones are 700x23c, and i am finding a lot of tyres that are 700x25c, 700x35c... would these still fit? as i presume the later number is just representative of the tyre width in mm

any help appreciated

i think its the iso diameter 622 i have to worry about.. is this generally the same across racing wheels/tyres?

I think you can safely go upto 28c....not sure about above 30 though

think i might look at getting 700x25 schwalbe marathon tyres, seem to be the best reviewed at that kinda price

Vittoria Randonneur from Wiggle, cheap, fast and almost bullet proof, 25mm is fine, 28mm will give much more comfort but you will need new inner tubes jumping from 23's to 28's. Forget the 35's, your bike won't take them unless it has been designed as a XC racer with wider front forks or possibly a hybrid, stick with 28's.

****, tx for the comment and kinda wish id gone for these as they are cheaper, but i just splashed out on 700x25 marathon kevlars, read that i will be able to use the same inner tubes and such as well which is useful, cannot be arced with getting punctures while commuting to work, will probably be the best thing on my bike lol

You wont go wrong on the Marathons - great for a winter commute. I have had them on various bikes for a number of years. I am a big fan in general of Schwalbe both MTB and Road.

try a set of GatorSkin tyres if you want durable

I have read so much about which tyres to get...
However I have kept the standard tyres that came with my bike (700 x 23) and no punctures in over 500miles.Mostly road but also some manky paths etc etc.
Don't forget, the wider the tyre the more resistance and the slower your speed. I am sticking with 23's. That said, the narrow tyres are also less safe on wet muddy paths so you need to be more careful in poor conditions.
