Need to replace a tyre on my Renault Scenic. Have been online to try and get some prices. Some ask for registration but then no info comes up, cant get the info (05 plate). Have just phoned Renault to ask what size tyre needed......and they cannot tel me...all depends!! ......even if I give him the registration

Son has taken car to work so not here to look at the tyre rim size. We keep the Renault book with all the info, in the car.

Just trying to get quotes for a new tyre...........why is it so difficult.

The problem is that cars have so many options for wheels and tyres nowadays that there isn't a 'standard' tyre for a given car. It all depends on what wheel has been fitted. Frustrating I know, but all you can do is have a look at the tyres when your son comes home (as pic above) and go from that.

Hope you don't have the optional 17" wheels as apparently they are an expensive option...

No, he's out of contact.

Why does part supplier not know what is required ??

Depends on model of car and whether you had any upgrade options.

I've got a 2004 Scenic 1.9dti Dynamique which has 205/60 R16 tyres (alloy wheels).

Because someone could have fitted different wheels to the car after it left the factory.

But as said above.. it could be any number of options which have been added, or even a dealer retrofit before its PDI to the new customer.

The only thing you can do is check whats on the car..

On my car, theres are 6 different tyre options which could of been fitted when new.

try looking on the kwik fit website - they give you two prices - the cheaper option if you buy them online then another price between 10-30 more expensive if you pay for them in the garage....!!! usually do good deals on the more expensive tyres too ie dunlop/bridgestone

Done and sorted thanks again guys. Forgot friend has same car as me, rang her and got details. Local bods were quite reasonalble after all...even compared with Kwik fit.

I just feel happier knowing what the ball park figure is before I walk in anywhere

The tyres could still be different sizes though.....
