UFC 94: ST-PIERRE vs PENN II

col Avatar

1st FEB 3AM LIVE: UFC 94
Live at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, headlined by the duel between Georges St-Pierre vs. BJ Penn in the Welterweight Championship.

In March 2006, top welterweights Georges St-Pierre and BJ Penn fought for the divisions No. 1 contenders spot. St-Pierre earned a razor-thin split decision and went on to win the Ultimate Fighting Championship® welterweight title. Penn dropped to the lightweight division and won the organizations 155-pound title.

Now theyre about to do it again. But this time, theres much more at stake. UFC® lightweight champion BJ Penn looks to be the first fighter in history to hold two UFC® championships at the same time when he faces Georges St-Pierre for the UFC® welterweight championship at UFC® 94: ST-PIERRE VS. PENN 2.

Looking forward to this one.

this is gonna be great card, im gonna go with gsp and thiago silva!!!

think later on everyone shud put down their fight predictions, see who gets the closest to the actual results.

maybe we cud set it out as

correctly choosing winner = 2points
correctly choosing how they win ie submission, ko, decision = 1 point

if u choose submission u also can state the exact submission u think which will give u extra point
if u choose ko, u can state which round for an extra point
if u choose decision, extra point for stating whether it will be split or unanimous.
what u reckon??

maybe an extra 5points at stake for whoever can guess how many times joe rogan will have to correct mike goldberg during the event.

Mike Goldberg" AND IT IS ALL OVER"
Joe Rogan: "WOW"

Not sure about being a quitter but i do think he lacks confidence sometimes, however hopefully he does enough to beat that little upstart Penn.
I think Silva will beat Machida although it really is another close one. Good card and really looking forward to it.

GSP R3 Sub

Machida UD

Bonnar UD

Parisyan R1 Sub

Guida R2 TKO

Fitch by murder

Gamburyan R2 Sub

The rest of the card doesn't interest me.

GSP R2 - by mashing Penns bulbous cocky head into the ground . . . .

Machida R1 - Knock Out

Bonnar R2 - KO

Parisyan R1 - Armbar

Diaz - Split Decision

Fitch - R1 KO

Gamburyan - Will lock in a deep eyebrow stretch for the tapout

There, matched moobs fights for prediction . . . .

machida ko loooooooooooooooooooool

they might aswell call him lyoto "decision" machida......hes the most boring 13-0 fighter on this planet imo.

gsp has confidence issues for sure, i think hell overcome them tho and hes a natural at that weight, bj is having to go up, and from what i saw of the fight blog, bj wasnt taking it very seriously.

btw ppl, if ur voting for a submission, u gotta put what type ie, rear naked choke, arm bar etc

the round number if for a ko

He actually beat both Bonnar and Franklin by TKO, and arm triangled Sokoudjou.

Silva hasn't fought since May 08 - he's gonna be rusty.

machidas last fight in octogan was may also lol

he kod both of them 6 years ago, other than sudukoblah omg his name is gay, hes been uding in the octogan, so F-ing boring.
#17
the terms "elusive" not boring lol
#18
His style isn't that exciting, but he is probably the most efficient striker in the UFC. I agree he needs to be more exciting however - Silva may bring that out in him. Didn't know it was May last time he was in!

looooooooooooooooool

ye :-D
#20
I dont really care bout the other guys but i think its gonna be:

GSP : KO r4
Machida: Submission arm bar

I agree with BG. Machida is so elusive. He's taken on some of the best fighters, always been the underdog, and still won. Elusive is definitely the word and there's no doubt about it. The GSP v BJP match could go either way but i know Machida will, unless Silva comes out with something phenomenal
#21
I hate to say it but i think GSP will beat penn again, thing is BJ's cardio stinks and was a major factor in their last meeting i think as far as conditioning is concerned st piere is better younger and more determined. BJ isnt the same fighter he was years ago.

As for Silva vs Machida machida all the way will probably win via UD and it will be Silvas first loss mark my word, he'll probably try to close the distance but machida is too fast and too accurate with his counters he'll probably pepper him and weather the storm for the first round after that you'll probably see lots of circling & jabbing at range by the dragon.

Why "hate to say it"? re. Penn?

He needs a lesson in class and humility from a fighter like GSP. Quality warrior and a class act. BJ Penn needs a whoopin to deflate the ego and fat head! lol

agreed, hes one of my fave fighters.

main event wise i can see bj stopping gsp on strikes, bj is hyped up hes never been subbed and has a cast iron beard.

lol I dont think gsp will sub penn, he has superior BJJ skills, Just hoping BJ cardio is up to 5rounds, because if not I think GSP will take it with his wrestling.

Bonnar
Parisyan
Guida
Fitch

BJ did well in the first round to stuff the takedowns, untill he got gassed, then GSP dominated with his wrestling. (read post 25).

and ma boy Machida does it again, only 14-0 I think he is in the top 5 p4p.

Why did you defend your statement then?:whistling:

I don't watch all the rubbish pre-fight talk - because that's exactly what it is.

I've watched UFC and many other MMA organisations (there are others you know) for the past 6 years.
