UK Holiday, where to go?

We have an 8 month old daughter and my wife won't go abroad this year so we i'm looking for some ideas for this country. My parents are keen caravaners and have offered to take the caravan anywhere we want to go. So i'm looking for:

1. Where to go in the UK?
2. What is there to do?
3.A site to take the caravan to.

Scotland although very nice is too far so somewhere in Wales/England

Any help appreciated.

Loads to do & tonnes of campsites/caravan sites.

Loch Lomond or Fort william

Haven Devon cliffs at Exmouth is nice place with plenty to do.

It depends what activities you both like. Decide what you want from the holiday and look for the place that supplies them. Have a lovely holiday wherever you end up. :)

I second Bournemouth.

The Gower is stunning - lots to see and do :)

Try the Flower of May Park near Filey. Good clean site with plenty to do in the surrounding area. Been for the past four years.

I love the North-East coast. Whitby and that stretch of coastline. Lots of camping sites and it's probably the cheapest part of the country to holiday. All the usual things to do, just cheaper. At least that was out impression when we spent a few days there last year.

We used to go to Teighnmouth in devon each year when i was little. From there you can spend days east or west in dartmouth, exmouth, torquay. Or go into Dartmoor. we used to love going to the River dart country park http://www.riverdart.co.uk/river-dart-adventures/river-dart-adventures.html

Sorry , 8 month old daughter. Guess the plenty to do for kids in surrounding area isn't so important is it ? Still a great area to take a holiday though.

Ullapool. There is a small drive to the beach near there and its like a different country. The sand is white and the water is crystal clear blue - Its gorgeous. Good for surfing too

Perranporth, North Coast, West Cornwall - 3 miles of brilliant sand. Probs best surfing beach in South West. Haven site near the beach - Perran Sands, set in the dunes - http://www.havenholidays.com/parks/devoncornwallsomerset/perransands/ Had many lovely holidays there.
Used to stay there twice a year in my childhood, and nowadays i go down Perranporth most weekends for surfing. Also a lovely pub on the beach - The Watering Hole.

We allready have the caravan so don't need to go to a haven park. Unless they take touring caravans also? South west seems to be very popular.
#19
yeah, there are lots of touring pitches there also, and several other sites right near the beach as well, just that that Haven one is most famous.

We tend to stay at Hendra in Newquay. A clean tidy site with touring pitches as well as static caravans an a fab pool for children. Also not far from Newquay zoo, aquarium, beaches +++ and the Eden Project etc..

france or dubai.
dubai if u can afford it
#22
the Gower in wales or the lake district. my kids have loved both. i must admit the beach holidays are better now the kids are older.

as your little one is very young i would reccommend going out of school holidays to avoid the awful traffic you get at most uk beauty spots

Never realised France & Dubai were in the UK??? :p

I'd third the Gower - it's brill.

Also check out www.ukcampsites.co.uk for loads of info and review on campsites & there are loads of threads about camping with young kids - I've just been reading them all for our 1 year old we're about to start camping with.

Also worth bearing in mind is that if you do fly anywhere you have to buy them a plane ticket when they are over 2 so worth going abroard before they are 2 - thats our plan anyway.

worto.
