Only way is to call up Vodaphone and ask them to send you a code to unlock it. This will cost you money £20-£30. But it is the only way. The N series can't even be done at your local market/unlocking shop.

Cost me £14.99 on eBay.

I presume the eba code unlocked the phone okay easily ? Could you please let me know who you used ?

Really? How? Maybe my knowledge of unlocking N series phones is out of date!

Help me out with an update!

does anyone also know how to download movies onto the phone and how much this costs ?

You're best off downloading a film on your computer then converting it to a phone format before sending it to your phone.
I wouldn't go downloading one directly onto your phone unless you have an unlimited download package. Even though wifi (free), your phone might not be able to handle such a download.

Can you download a dvd onto the hard drive and then onto the phone, do you not need software to download it ?
#8
Are you talking about burning a DVD you own, onto your computer hard drive then convert it for the phone?

If you are then yes it is possible but it does require more than one piece of software.
A program to rip the DVD onto the hard drive. Should be straight forward but some DVD's have copy protection on them, there are ways around it though.
Anther program to convert your DVD rip into a phone friendly format while reducing the size so that it fits on your phone screen nicely and doesn't use up all your memory.

If you have downloaded films/videos on your computer then you just need the second piece of software to convert the films.

It was very quick and simple to do. The seller I used was 'scary.dawn'. A listing they currently have on is 190196507017.

Just checked out the listing and I reckon it's an inside job kind of thing. An (ex) employee of Vodaphone wanting to make some easy money I'm guessing?

Should be very careful about giving out your imei number though, if in the wrong hands, they can be used to unlock stolen phones and steal your phone's identity.

I agree and if they are ripping of an (ex) employer, I don't think I would be so keen passing on my IMEI number to them. I think I would be more inclined to contact vodafone and pay the extra ! I like the idea of downloading films onto the phone, is the software downloadable or do you need to buy it ? (both software programs)

There's loads of programs available for download, most of them are trial wares that either limit the amount of video you can encode or stick a great big watermark over the converted copy, both of which are uncool.
There are some free dvd ripping software available but you'd have to google it because I'm not too familiar with Windows software.

For the second program, the conversion one, Quicktime Pro is what I would recommend. You can download Quicktime from the Apple site for free. Quicktime Pro just unlocks some more features. You need these extra features but it'd normally cost you about £30 to unlock them. I can help you there, just PM me about it.
If you would rather avoid Quicktime then I think that Nokia PC suite has a similar function but the quality is not as good. There are other free conversion programs about, Google is your friend. You'll want something like "avi - mp4 converter" or similar.

Why would anyone go to all that trouble when, firstly imei changing is pretty much impossible on most newer phones, and secondly, if you can change the imei, you could just make a 15 digit number up to use.

Cheers, I thought my knowledge in this area could have been out of date. I used to have an N70 and when they came out, nowhere could unlock it :(
