I've recently got a black Wii and looking at some of the threads here I need the Indiana Jones Original Adventures to allow me to do a software unlock.

However, I've read some website claims I can still do a Software unlock with their Homebrew software. Costing $30, (I deleted link to website)

Anyone got any knowledge on this?

Cheers

what firmware you on ?
#2
Depends on which firmware your Wii's running
#4
I think when I checked its 4.3

If your Wii is on 4.3 firmware(Check in Wii settings) then you need either Lego Indiana Jones the Original Adventures, or Yu Gi Oh(sp) 5d's Wheelie breakers.

If it's 4.2 or below, then you it's a lot easier to do, as you just need an SD card with the correct files.

If it's a black Wii, you will need to play games from the USB, as it won't play burnt DVD's.

just checked this, I still need the indiana jones game which costs a fair bit, shame I can't use Super Smash Bros as I have that but looking at the instructions that hack only works for NTSC

any reason why it won't play burnt DVDs?

Wii guys have locked the features of the Wii so that it cant play burnt DVDS to prevent piracy,
You could softmod your wii and backup your games but dont do it for commericial purposes.
Check ebay / gumtree you willl get some good deals for sal /rent the Indiana jones

Nintendo changed the DVD drives to hinder pirating.

You could always just rent the game from Blockbuster etc.

No, a hard drive is so much better, never need a disk again, I have 18 games, just loads an onscreen menu with the boxart and title, click any I want and instantly play it, so much better.

I agree. Also no disc noise or physical discs/cases lying around.

ok cool guess i'll go on the hunt for indiana jones to see if anywhere other than ebay has a preowned copy

running from usb is so much quicker, have 320GB hard drive full of wii games and when used a disc it felt like ages to load ok about 10-15 secs, but with usb loader it only takes about 3-5 secs.

cool will have to give you guys a shout once i've soft mod it

The chances of finding one are slim to nil.

lol true but I'm in no rush as the Wii had been collecting dust until recently as I got the Wii Fit and using that a lot but I spend a fair bit on games and dvds for foster kids that come stay with the family so in time that will help save me some money

Remember you can re-sell the game after you have used it so you will get your money back

best thing about working from hard drive is that you can copy the games to the hard drive (or d/l) them and never have need for discs again.
