Morning all,

I was just wondering how easy is it to unlock the Blackberry Curve? And if it is unlocked would I be able to use all the features (provided i get the Blackberry Bolt on to my plan)?

The reason im asking is my wife is looking to get a contract but she already has the iphone so she will use that as her phone and i want the blackberry curve. So i was just wondering how do-able is it?

Thanks

Side note - the Bold is much better than the Curve

http://www.blackberrycurve8900unlock.co.uk/ for £20 - note: im just showing it can be done... i don't necessarily recommend them, use on your own risks
but I reckon your local phone shop would be able to do it more cheaply

Er... both have 2mb camera (well, the 8300 series does) and both have wifi. Smaller does not mean better.
Bold has better keyboard.

Now im really confused on which on to get. Does anyone have either the curve or the bold? Would like to hear what people think about them?

Thanks

I have always found that it doesn't matter how many reviews or recommendations you get for phones - the only way to know is to get one and use it for a while, as they are very personal things

This also usually means that you are then screwed if you don't like it! I get a new phone every year because of this, I am yet to find one I am happy to stick with. :x

yep im on about the 8900 as well. The 8900 is probably the best built blackberry atm and its not that big either.

in a nutshell:
bold has faster processor and 3G but 2mp camera and bulkier
Curve 8900 has more internal memory (256) , 3.2 mp camera crispier screen and slimmer

This may help you:

Personally, I would go for the Bold, I have used that phone...it definately has better reviews but for a reason. It has a better finish than the curve and a good size to hold and use the keyboard etc....It also has a scroller to navigate the menu and is a 3G phone.

So go for the Bold if you can....However, if you still want a Curve....you can get it unlocked cheaper from the auction site..

Hope that Helps

It does look a great phone, and a few people i know have the 8900 and they all love it

I had my curve unlocked about 6 months ago and have had no problems since, most networks do it for free but by the time you've made all the correct calls it costs about £9 or £10 and takes a couple of weeks.

So i used a seller of fleabay that has super feedback.

Item number: 140326149100 looks to be the best bet.

(The Curve is much better than the Bold;) )

Reviews can go as far as finding a phone you might like. Whether you actually do or not is totally different. Same goes for movie reviews, just because Barry Norman thinks it's good doesn't mean you will.

Yeh the thing is if you can deal with the smaller keyboard then go for the 8900 if not then the 9000 however i prefer the size of the 8900. But bare in mind that the 8900 doesnt have 3g so you'll have the slow "edge" speeds.

Does this i have to send the phone of to them?? I'd be a bit wary of doing that!! I'd rather find a local shop somewhere!

OK so one says the Bold the other one says the Curve. What to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man finding a phone is like looking for a wife. You think you find the perfect one and then you start finding little faults!!!!!!!!!! :whistling:

Go to the o2 shop and try them. I think o2 is the only shop which has the actual phones on display.

i might do that. But I'm getting the 8900 for free on dialaphone website on a £20 a month tariff. Like i said the contract is for the Mrs and then phone will be for me. I dont want to spend any money on the phone. So i will look at which one gets me the best deal in terms of minutes & txt msgs for the Mrs and free phone for me!!!

Watch out when seperating the phone from the contract, especially with O2 as you may not have the 'Blackberry Data Tariff',..... so if this happens your unlimited data package with your contract does not allow use of blackberry browser as this is a separate premium package.

The unlimited data will count for other downloadable browsers, but without the blackberry browser you can not use push email or download anything to your phone without the blackberry browser.

(Just a warning as it caught me out:oops: , but it may be OK as your taking your contract from pearl to curve, worth an ask if you pop into a phone shop though!:)

Yeah i am aware of that. It caught me out when i first got my Pearl. Had to pay £10 a month (i think it was) so once i decide on whether i am getting the curve or the bold i will be on the phone with o2 to change my plan or do something.

Thanks for the heads up anyways...Have some rep :)
