unplugged external HD while formating?

Hi there,
I just bought a new external hard drive and was formatting it to FAT32 with vista cmd so i could use it with my ps3, it was at about 20% and then my brother, the genius that he is, thought he'd unplug the laptop and there was no battery in it so it shut off. I then swiched it on and it says the ext drive is not formated and i need to format it.
I'm fairly certain it will be easy to format as i got a western digital utility to do it with, but i'm wondering if this might have had a harmful permanent effect on the drive and if i should send it back before i load all my stuff onto it. (please say it will be ok! i really dont want to be sending it back but if I should then i suppose i will.
BTW it has a 3 year warranty so would you recommend just using it for a while and see what happens? (i dont really mind loading things back onto it cos i wont use it for permanent backup). i've just started reformatting it with WD utility...
thanks
