I guess basically, you would have to send the item to nigeria, which you cant do with decent tracking, they claim not received and paypal take the money back

or they send you an email from fake paypal to say they have paid (and think you wont check the real paypal)

also they are asking you to request money rather than them send it? sounds funny

Hijacked paypal accounts for a guess. Anyone who can upload a torrent to a tracker can get ebay logins and from there most people use the same email/password combo for paypal, I could set up a trojan thats undetectable in minutes and literally have 100's of details in 24 hours. Never ever use a cracked ebay sniper, stick with goofbay.

I doubt they'd send the money....they probably wouldn't have enough....but I get so many of these emails every day lol....even though I stated I don't post to Africa, yet they still try regardless.

Do you think they'll just try and send me a fake paypal email saying they've paid and they're waiting for the item?

I'm tempted to get there details and notify the police for the constant attempt of scams.

Has anyone seen some pranks, my friend showed me one ages ago that I only remembered this morning where this guy arranged to cyber with a girl that had an illness and was pasty white and eventually he made out he was hired by ghost busters to catch her. lol

stolen credit cards. Even if you think you are taking advantage of this, You will get scammed.
There are other scams out there like this, Alot more clever I should add.
This is an organized scam run, from outside of the UK so they have nothing to loose, apart from the gullible who choose take take it up.
Read something, a while back, and a guy took one of these deals up,they rolled him in( went abroad etc ) got a tyre put round his neck and set it alight)

Never heard of people collecting passwords via a bittorrent tracker / rogue torrent. Do you have any more details / links to news articles / etc, I'm genuinely interested.
Would make me think twice about using a public torrent tracker if this is true..

+1

Is it a malicious script in the torrent file itself or the data that it downloads?

I don't use torrents these days as I have preferred options but I'm quite interested in the issue.

Its only done via a auction sniper software (you need to enter your details for the sniper to work) I apologise I used the word trojan earlier its actually a keylogger. the way you bind it to the software means it has a unique signature each time so no anti-virus will detect it.

The only info I have on this is the guide to making this work to which I obviously wont link.

There are many rogue torrents out there with malicious code embedded.
