Update on Lloyds Banking Group Share Offer

Thank you for signing up to receive updates about a Lloyds Banking Group share offer.

As the Chancellor announced today, we are withdrawing plans for a Lloyds retail offer. The government wants to get the best possible return for the taxpayer. Due to conditions in financial markets and current share prices, a retail offer at this point in time would not achieve this aim.

More details are available in this press notice

Kind regards,

HM Treasury

They are still being sold, so will be less than was originally paid anyway, just not to individuals.. "The shares will now be sold via a "trading plan" - small tranches of shares sold to professional investment organisations and pension funds.". No doubt these will be sold at "mates rates" to their trader friends

typical tory con trick putting money into the pockets of their city school chums while no ones looking - they didn't talk about that at their conference did they?

But....but...Theresa said....

Maybe we should have a referendum on this?

Isn't this the public selling to the public, how can government maximise the return to the public? It is just transfer of ownership, the overall effect to the public as a whole is no change, just count the same beans again but in a different pot. On the other hand, selling to institutions is not the same as selling to the public as there is a realisable change. And this realisable change needs to be a profit on return on investment.

Simple answer to your remark . Buy them yourself ,today, on the open market. Under 52p now , a 30% discount on the June (pre Brexit vote ) price of 70p . Bargain ? Or are you going to let the school chums have them all ?

If your intention is still to buy, why wait for the 5% discount from the Goverment? They'd only be looking to sell once the stock price is above 73p, and it can be had for ~25% less right now.

you've completely missed the point

I think you should limit yourself to commenting on subjects you actually understand . This is obviously not one of them !

They're cheaper now than what you could have got them at, why not buy now?

Also, where's the guy that was telling misc the Gov would sell these to the public for a loss at well under their buy price?

lol @ him.

I could be wrong about this but aren't they still going to sell the shares but not to the public.
