*GUIDE WILL RETURN SOON! *THIS WILL WIPE YOUR PHONE* New links/pictures and instructions added! Ok so alot of people benefited from the recent W810 deal. The next three posts will focus on: 1) Unlocking and debranding the Cid 49 2) Debranding the Cid 50 3) Patches and extra info I've done is this into one place, and spent some time gathering the files and putting them into one pack, including putting the own_custpack in the right place. I've also rewrote the guide and redone all the pictures. Regarding the virus warnings these are false postives triggered by how setools is packaged, please see this thread for info: http://www.topsony.com/forum/se-tool-2-lite-f46/solved-setool2lite-v1-11-trojan-horse-t15147.html But Please note you download files at your own risk, and neither me or hotukdeals are responsible for any damaged caused to your phone or computer. ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬ My Rapidshare traffic is limited to 1GB a day so if it says traffic exhausted then please try again the next day. Thanks. ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬

Remove_SIM_lock_R4EA031.VKP - this is the unlock patch you use in XS++ near the end of the guide.

¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬

W810i CID-49 unlocking/ debranding guide.

YOU DO THE FOLLOWING AT YOUR OWN RISK:

It will be saved in the directory where setool2lite is located as gdfs_xxxxxxxxxxxx.bin, with xxxxxxxxxxx being your phone's IMEI number. Goto the directory where SETools is located and make sure the backup of the GDFS is present, you may need need this if something goes wrong. DO NOT PROCEDE ANY FUTHER UNLESS YOU

After about another minute you will get a pop up saying:

Patches, themes, java applications

Ok first of all here is the download link(~27mb):
Please read this whole post before using it
http://d-h.st/VDm

Now the zip file contains 4 folders:
tested patches
these are patches that I have personally used and have had no trouble with them
untested patches
I've not used them but they should be fine(note the patchers from the tested folder are also in here)
Java apps
Just a few Java applications, read the included read me
Flash + Theme Files
A big pack of flash themes.

Please read this whole post before using it

Patches
Ok these patchers are applied in exactly the same way as the unlock patch, so follow the method in the Cid 49 post.
You cannot use patches on a Cid 50 phone!
¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬

The following can be done on Cid 49 or Cid 50

Java Apps
Just copy these to the other folder on your phone or memory card then on your phone select them and choose install. A read me file is included in the folder.

Flash + Theme Files

Please do not use these until I have written the tutorial tomorrow
It involves browsing the system files and adding the files into specific places, so please wait until the tutorial tomorrow
Please wait for the tutorial tomorrow before using the flash themes, as it is more complex than just copying the .thm and .swf files to your phone.

Thank-you

great timing - my phone has just arrived :-D
#4
You know about flash menus and stuff?
#5
In the guide it says click identify and make sure its cid 49 or 50... how am I supposed to be sure its cid 50? Does it set off a siren and says you have a XX. What am I looking for in setool2 lite to determine which one I have.

The service menu just has check does not tell me as it just says C: ..
#6
As I stated, my service menu said C: .. ie two full stops no number.

Also, I wanted to double check as the pic in the cid 50 instructions suggests its actually a cid 49 phone. I wanted to make sure it wasn't something else that I should be looking for in the program.

Also, how long does it take to backup the GDFS? I left mine running for an hour with the progress bar going left to right and then restarting...

About half a minute max! Did the IDENTIFY part work first?

Read carefully through the guide. Make sure you have installed the USB FLASH DRIVERS correctly and don't forget the phone must be off and press and hold C whilst connecting it to the USB and computer.

PS. I'm no master in it and I don't know why it shows as C... try doing identify and reading what it says then.
#8
Yes, the identify did seem to work. I installed the driver included in the package. Battery was a little low so I've had it on charge and going to give it another go now.

Well, it seems I have to run the setool and then set it up how it needs to be and then click the button for what I want to do and then hold C and connect USB cable. I think its done. Not sure until I try a different sim in it.

It worked a charm :-D Its unlocked. The no emergency calls doesn't quite work, 999 can still be dialled. Also there are still a few traces of Vodafone, eg under the games menu there is a link to Vodafone. Now I want to debrand my w800i.
#9
Hi I'm having a bit of bother unlocking and debranding my c 49 w810i.
1st issue: I'm not sure if i installed the driver correctly. I extracted the file into a different folder, but when windows asked for which driver to use, I found it very hard to select the driver i needed. Is there a way of getting my computer to ask for the driver again?

2nd: When applying the patch to unlock the phone do you hit 'flash' afterwards again (including the things that were already included the previous time when applying the custom pack? or is it 'write script' you press?

3rdly. Is there a way of restoring my phone to its original position if i can't get this working. Cos right now it's saying config error, contact service provider.

Please help!

remove and reinsert the battery, then whilst holding down c connect the usb cable to the phone.

It could also be that you do not have the USB flash drivers installed.

You will know when to release c as the big white box with writing in it (left hand side of SETool) will tell you about your phone. IMEI, CID etc etc.

You need to refresh the phone. Remove the battery, reinsert then try again.
#18
I installed the drivers, at least I think I did it right. Started up setool and identified, all the text came un in the window. Clicked to read GDFS and the green bar is just going across the screen and then back to nothing again before going back across. I left it running for about 10 mins.

Does this mean I haven't installed the drivers correctly? How can you tell if they are installed?

forgot to say I quit setool and unplugged my phone again and pressed c and pluggged it back in. It didn't ask me to install drivers or anything like that so I assume they are all installed ok
#19
I run the XS++ and disconnected and clicked identify and i still get the t mobile coming up. I don't know what I am doing wrong!

I made sure everything was as in the screen shots, I carried on with the rest of the instructions and although it is showing t mobile on the identify thingy my phone now works perfectly with my O2 sim card and all the tmobile stuff has gone from it!
#20
Your post has been very helpful, thank you.

If anyone would like to receive a reminder notification on their phone when they have missed calls or text messages then the following patch can be applied. Apply the patch using this tutorial:

http://www.filefactory.com/file/c6755f/

Note: I didn't create this script, but the script works perfectly
#21
dcx_badass,

Don't know why, can't download the zip file.
#22
anybody know if you can make the font smaller on the W810i? I actually really like this phone...forgot how good the SE interface can be :-D
#23
Cheers for the tutorial dcx! I found ziffilus' one a bit difficult to follow, pictures etc in this one v. helpful.

Does this work for Orange w810is as well?

My friend's w810i is locked to Orange, its cid49.

I tried the same method, and although unbranding worked, the unlocking did not...Anyone know how to get it unlocked?

Edit:

This is what the IDENTIFY button in setoollt says about it (this is after attempted unlock/debrand, IMEI has been obscured):

I decided to press no at this point for fear of killing the phone...

dcx_badass, many thanks for your help.

Now I got the download. I will give a go tonight.

I ordered this phone on 14 Feb. It was delivered to me only this week. But it is a cid49.

Allright pressed yes at the prompt and still no unlock :( Identify is showing the phone as LOCKED to operator 234-44 which I assume is Orange.

Need help about the following
''Then run SeTool2 lite. Select W810i as the phone type, click the identify button
Make sure the CID is 49 (most black w810's are). Click the "Read GDFS" button''

Question - At which point do I insert the cable into the phone - is it
before clicking identify
or before clicking Read GDFS
or in between the two
or after Read GDFS.
Thanks for help.

Ok, do the patch click yes to some valuse differ, then when you get the pop up(it might be before the valuse differ bit) then click yes to remove the patch. Then when its done, turn the phone on, then turn it off, remove the battery, put it back in and try put the patch on again.

Hi DCX,

Just tried that, no luck unfortunately.

First of all make sure the 'usb' side of the usb cable is plugged into your pc, and make sure the w810i is not plugged into the other end.

Then click IDENTIFY, once you do the status bar (it's under the log window where everything happens, says 'Awaiting your commands' when the program first starts up) should read 'Hold 'C' and insert USB Cable' at this point you'll want to hold down the 'C' button on the w810i, and connect it to the usb cable (remember, holding C all the while), once you the log start filling up with commands you can let go of C. Then it's just a matter of keeping an eye on the status bar and log.

Hi
firstly thanks a lot

just a couple of things

My default version in the final screen says R4ED001 instead of R4EA031 (Final Red Box) on you guide is this ok as all the rest state as your guide.

To anyone who has problems flashing their phone, i noticed that if i went via my PCI usb card the phone would not flash correctly but if i went through the usb direct from the pc (have 2 usb ports on front bottom of pc connect directly to the motherboard) and not via any add on cards it worked.
hope it helps someone

Hi, dcx_badass,

Device manager says that I've got 1 USB Composite Device, and 2 Mass Storage Devices.
Is the USBflashdriver installed correctly or not? Should I uninstall the device and redo it?

I haven't done the rest.

Yeah thats fine, I think thats just ther version that it was before you flashed it. Providing that you flashed the FS & Main + custpack its good to go. Mine was a little different as I have flashed it back to the T mobile stuff, as my phone broke after a day. Grrrrrr.

so i assume now that all i need to do is find somewhere to get it unlocked so that i can add any sim to it.

have looked on se-nse but cannot find anything or link to do it.
can you suggest anywhere (Link) or do I just take to the market stall and get it done there

thanks in advance

Just like to say thanks for the guide it worked 1st time .

I have the White 810i version but it shows as the CID 49 version so the unlocking worked fine.

Hi guys..

W810_R4EA031_MAIN_GENERIC_HN_RED49

thanks..

nice one thanks.. my fone is marked as R4D005 in the information am I right in thinking I need to keep to these set of files? or can I just use the new ones? Sorry noob q's I'm new to this firmware lark. :-D

I have a W810i branded T-Mobile unlocked and currently using an Orange Sim.. I'd like to re-brand it to Orange layouts etc. i've got the orange custom folder just need the MAIN and FS files to flash over.

ok i've got the following:

W810_CDA102494_51_Orange_United_Kingdom for the custom pack.
And
W810_R4EA031_MAIN_ORANGE_RED49 for the MAIN file.

do I need to make sure the FS file is a W810_R4EA031_FS ?? ie both numbers the same? or can I use "W810_R4ED001_FS_ORANGE_GEN_RED49" for the FS? if I can find it downloadable for free :)
