Updating new Acer laptop to Windows 7 - any problems?

I recently bought an Acer laptop with Vista installed with a voucher to upgrade to Windows 7 when it became available. I have now received the upgrade disk and was wondering if anyone with an Acer laptop has had any installation problems. I would find it very inconvenient to lose any files during the upgrade process.

Any tips or hints welcomed and repped.

the model is an Aspire 5738z

You 'shouldn't' loss any data during an upgrade, but you should always back up any data you can't afford to loss any way.
Either to dvd/cd or usb drive.
Things can always go wrong
Windows 7 will keep all your files and settings....even if you do a clean install it creates a full back up of your old operating system and puts it into a folder called old windows. Very clever but you will need the extra space on your hard drive. If just upgrading then it will keep all your files and setting.....but as Steve says its best to do a manual back up yourself just incase all goes horribly wrong.
I upgraded an acer laptop earlier this week, with no loss of data or settings (even the desktop was the same afterwards). It was painless & easy.

There were two disks to the install, so (assuming you also have two disks) make sure you put the correct one in first.

I didn't bother using the MS utility for backing up old files, settings etc, although I did save all important data to a USB drive, just in case.
