What makes you think RAM is the bottle neck in the boxes performance?
The answer is of course, no.

Never can't upgrade boxes like that, really.

Have you upgraded the hard drive at all ?
What make of box do you have ?
Do you have the new EPG ?

Because what else could it be? It's either RAM or processor, and RAM is a damn sight easier to change.

It will be the hard drive thats causing it, i did have a 1tb in mine and it was very slow, put in a 650gb now and it flies through the EPG

Mine takes about 5 seconds or so to respond after pressing say green or red, really annoying. But if the only way to fix it is to replace the drive (again!) I might just learn to live with it, as I am used to having so much hdd space now.

yes its a right pain, i guess it only really does it when in the planner ?

So, will all 1TB drives cause such a massive slowdown, or only certain drives or certain boxes?

Have a 1TB sitting here to be put in to my Pace box when I get around to it, but nervous now, don't want massive slowdown problems.

Cheers, Des.

Reading other forums the slow EPG is affecting those with that have upgraded the hard drive to the larger sizes and have the new EPG installed , mine certainally went very slow, with the new 650gb its loads faster than the 1tb it replaced.

Mine is a Pace HD box BTW

Thanks for that Deanos!

Ok, looks like I need to keep an eye out for a 650/750 drive instead of the 1TB.

Did you do a fresh install of your 1TB, or copy everything over from your original drive? Just wondering if that had anything to do with it.

Cheers, Des.

I used Copy+ and transfered the programs off the old hard drive, anything over 500gb needs to be run through Copy+ anyway so you might as well transfer your programs over

This is the one ive got, its optimised for use in PVR's, runs silent and is low power
