Upgrading to Sky HD

Thinking of upgrading to Sky HD from Sky + (older version not pvr3) and wondered how much I would be looking at buying second hand for a HD box ?

I had contemplated upgrading Sky+ to the new PVR3 but I might as well consider just going for the HD box as it should be a case of exchanging cables (apart from HDMI!).

cheers.

They definately won't. :x I have paid them approx £3,000 in subscription over the past years and I rang them to see if there were any deals for existing customers (eg HD) and was told there was not. I threatened to cancel and guess what? .... my subscription ceases in 6 days! Well as far as I'm concerned, I will spend my next £3,000+ on cinema, blu-ray etc.

The good thing is that Freesat is just around the corner with BBC & ITV &C4 all going to be offering Free HD at some time :p. OK You don't (won't) have the same choice but a lot of Sky is repeated and repeated and repeated and repeated and repeated and repeated and repeated and repeated and repeated and repeated and repeated and repeated programs anyway. Even the movie chanels are 'old' movies - you have usually seen them in the cinema anyway.

Unless they come up with something really good, I think I'll give 'Freesat' a chance :w00t:.

I called them a couple of weeks ago and they offered me nothing ! unfortunately as I have broadband with them cancelling isn't an option until my 12 months is up.

Unfair they don't look after customers who have been with them for years.

You cn only hope for the offer for £99 HD box for a new subscriber (sign up the missus) from comet/pc world/currys like they were doing until the end of march, or that they re-appear on Quidco, or if you shop at M&S you can offsett the vouchers against the cost of the box with their refer a friends scheme.

You can always try calling and ask what they'd do for you if you was a new customer, see if you negotiate a better deal.

Considering buying a second hand HD box now !!!!

what you'll need is something called a "second hand installation" from sky, cost you 40 quid last time I checked.
