My son has had a high temp and fever since Monday and hes been taking calpol but yesterday I gave him Nurofen for kids and today his whole body is covered in a rash along with the high temp and fever.

Ive been to the GPs today and she said its a reaction to the nurofen and give him some antibiotics as she she hes got a bad chest.

When I run a glass over the rash is disappears, which is good.

I wanted to know is the GP right or she talking cr4p ?

p.s hes been talking plenty of fluids but not eating much.

Well since as I know less than a GP would I'd say belive your gp!

If your at all worried I would ring NHS direct for more advice.
If he declines to a point where you are really concerned then go to your hospital or ring your out of hours GP.

Take them to the A&E NOW!!!

No messing around with rashes and temps. Just get in the car and go!

people are usually really helpful on here with all matters

OMG!!!!!!! Asking for second opinion from want to be internet dr's, if you don't beleive the 1st opinion from a real life DR, and are worried go to another or A+E.

This place absolutley amazes me!

you don't have children do you? if you were truly that worried about your children there is no way you would ask for advice on here, you'd be half way to hospital by now.

See I told you to make one and it would come in handy:thumbsup:

Ok, I've asked some stupid questions here in my time, but never anything as serious as risking my own child's health by delaying medical circumstances to ask on a shopping forum.

You should have been in a and e half an hour ago.

why would they need to go to hosp? The GP has recommended what they are to do and there is no mention of taking them to hospital

Because the GP's decision means jack compared to the qualified interweb dr's, ofc!

kids will sometimes get a rash if they have a high temp. But if you are really worried or thinks your child is getting worse theres no harm in ringing nhs direct or going to your local A+E just to be on the safe side

I once put a plaster on so I feel I am qualified to say your Dr is a quack. cover your child in irn bru (has to be from cans), then once sticky roll your child in crushed digestive biscuits and make them run on the spot until all the crumbs have fallen off and the rash will come off with the crumbs. Put the fallen off rash in a bag and take it to your local pet shop.

Good luck xxx

I think ur all being a little harsh. She's been sent home from Docs as ok....most parents would leave it at that....she quite obviously doesn't want to overreact so she's just asking for some opinions. If she was REALLY THAT worried, I'm sure she'd take her child to the hospital. I sometimes phone my mum to ask her opinion on things...nothing wrong with that in my eyes:roll:

no, this level of stupidity should not go unnoticed. Asking if the gp is talking crap or not in the internet when it concerns your kid is not in anyway the same as asking your mum for advice. Honestly along with that daft ash cloud nonsense thread and this I really despair at humanity.

Mine either, but it's just a question....she has been to the docs and they have said he is ok. It's not really that much of a hardship to be less judgemental is it.

and if any advice on here was taken and used, what if it harmed the child further................

its best left at that now
