Used brake pads received from Euro Car Parts

Absolutely disgusted. Box battered. A seal applied over the top of the old one. Pads clearly worn and used. They even have copper grease on the back as if they couldn't be bothered to spray a little brake cleaner on them.

I thought it was illegal to sell brake pads that have been opened. Does anyone know anything more?

Tried to reach ECP on the phone but rang for 1 and half minute and went dead.

I am FURIOUS!

An illegal mistake if its illegal to sell used pads and pads on which the seal has been opened.

Fair enough I can see it from their perspective, some idiot buys pads, tries to fit, finds they're wrong ones and takes em back, but they should not be re-sold.

They usually put a surcharge on when goods are returned that are bought incorrectly so if you've paid full price then you've been double duped lol.
Seriously Gary is right you should wait until you can get through then make a complaint if you wish but it is poor quality control.

Hi mate,
Call 0208 782 2539 if you are having trouble getting through to a member of the customer service team.
Obviously a genuine mistake as used pads are useless to anybody! :)

European legislation came into effect September 1999 titled ECE R90 that stipulates that all brake pads sold for use on vehicles manufactured after this date must be tested and comply to R90 standards.

Regulation 90 (ECE R90) is the European standard for replacement brake pads and linings covering three key areas of performance, production conformance, marking and packaging.

Regulation 90 stipulates that replacement parts comply with European braking requirements for performance, fade and hot performance and that their performance is within 15% of that of the orginal.

ECE R90 also sets minimum levels for product stength and demands routine measurement of key performance parameters during production to ensure conformity with orginal testing.

Pads must be properly packaged in sealed, tamper-proof boxes, bearing a label displaying application, approval number and an illustration of the contents. A full set of fitting instructions must be enclosed. The pad must bear the corresponding "E" mark approval number on the backing plate. This unique code contains information about the country of approval (E11 being the UK), certification issue number, friction material and brake pad type, providing complete traceability.

I may look smart, but Google is my best friend.

Go on get on the phone and kick off at them. While you are there ask them when are they going to have any cans of brake cleaner on offer again, Normfest MC-1 Brake Cleaner 500ml - BARGAIN £1.83 . I have used the last of mine that I got from a deal on here.

Hi guys,

Looks like a picking error at the warehouse - not ideal but accidents do happen. E90 is a serious regulation which all ECP brake pads meet - These were obviously damaged in transit, or returned by a customer, either way, they shouldn't have been sent out.

anewman has been sent contact details incase hes has problems getting through to Customer Service dept.

No need to 'kick off' as that wouldnt get you anywhere, a polite phonecall will see a replacement set sent out immedatly (if not already) ECP take customer service very seriously!

Do you work for them Patrick, just coincidental that you joined 24 minutes ago and the last area manager I spoke with was called Patrick.

You are correct though no need to kick off, I was just having a laugh but serious about the brake cleaner though.

It happens, I bloody hate the security seal on brake pads, I repair cars for a living & the times I've been sent pads for a particular vehicle & open the box & they are wrong, the picture doesn't bear any resemblance of whats in the box either. I deal with Euro car parts & to be fair to them they are very good at sorting out any problems.

Nope, recommendation was to go to nearest store with my RMA number. Bit inconvenient, but if that gets me a set of new pads I'll be reasonably happy.

Definitely not damaged in transit, unless the delivery guy tried fitting them to his van. I commend you on delivering the next day for a free delivery service though, was surprised when they turned up.
