Japan uses 100V - you will need some kinda adapter - someone better qualified should be more precise.

Edit: You can get one here:

I think he'll be needing a "step-up transformer". The adapter linked to above will allow him to plug his Xbox into the wall but as Japan only uses 110v, that won't be enough to power the Xbox which would need 220v.. So the solution is getting one of these step-up transformers which you plug in between the wall and the Xbox and it beefs up the 100v coming out of the wall to 220v..

That's my understanding of it anyway.. might not be 100% correct.

Take a look here: http://www.euronetwork.co.uk/acatalog/Voltage_transformers.html

Transformers usually cost too much.
Tell him to just buy a Japanese 360 powerbrick/cable.
Works perfectly

Considering the UK uses PAL2 and Japan NTSC screen format, does there need to be some kind screen converter?

The screen format doesn't matter anymore. Years ago the standard definition format was different. These days pal bs foreign formats only get caught by region locking (which Xbox shouldn't have if I recall) and power source conversion.

It would make things a lot easier if you actually put.

1.What Xbox it is, Xbox 360 or Xbox One.

2. What do you mean by "difficulty to get it to work" ? That could mean anything. I.e. No power, Power but no picture etc etc.

The Xbox One didn't exist 4 years and 10 months ago.

Lol, didn't see the date, maybe after 4 years "Spacewarrioress" thought he/she had finally figured it out.
