Using sim contract with landline?

Just a quick question, would it be possible to take out a sim only contract with unlimited minutes (£30 per month) and get our landline calls forwarded to the mobile number saving us the cost of paying bt line rental, and landline call charges?

Thanks in advance

Not quite true.

When a call is forwarded, the forwarding cost falls on the person that its being forwarded to. I.e, if i was to call a landline number, i will get charged for calling a landline (or come out my minutes). If that landline is then diverted or forwarded to a mobile, the tab for that will be picked up by the person who set up the divert.

Thats the reason why when you are abroad and someone calls you on your mobile, they just pay the normal rate for calling you/comes out of their inclusive minutes, but the international part of the call is then charged to you.

To the OP. Do you think BT will provide you an active service of forwarding your calls for you for free and without having a line with them? Ill make it simpler for you. Stop paying BT line rental for the phone number they have provided you with and they will cut you off. Forget getting the calls forwarded, you wont receive any calls period.

Why not just set up a voip account on your phone (if it has the capabilities) so that anyone ringing you is dialling a local area code. I use sipgate to give me one (for free) and that's the number that all my weekend work comes in on.

There is a way
You need a premicell phone its like a home battery powered phone that take the chip.
A guy i know buys the phones at £2500.00/£300.00 for his business
He gets a £60.00 a month unlimited call contract with say an iphone.
Sells the iphone to pay for the home phone.
Im looking into getting one for my home.
He says you can go out shopping etc and it works like a mobile that bit i dont know for sure.

I don't get this. Why not just use the iPhone?

Thank you so much, managed to track down a similar item:
Burnside T940 GSM Gateway

'' Burnside T940 GSM Gateway Follow Me: An extra firmware package which can eliminate expensive call diverts by forwarding incoming landline calls directly onto the mobile network.''

Now i just need to work out whether i would still have to pay the landline rental charges.
