I had silverfish once, scared the freaking life out of me. Mine were in the corner of the bathroom and are apparently about when it's damp in an area. To be honest, I didn't have the net at the time (to research what they were, freaking little silver tadpole looking things), so I just kept putting bleach down (on them if I could too) and I never had a problem again.... but I guess that's a short term fix
Ps: They seem to like it dark and freeze or disappear when a light comes on

Silverfish are very clever. I used to send them to the local co-op to get my mums bacon when I was a kid.

According to Wikipedia - "The reproduction of silverfish is preceded by a "love dance", involving three phases, which may last over half an hour. In the first phase, the male and female stand face to face, their trembling antennae touching, then repeatedly back off and return to this position. In the second phase the male runs away and the female chases him. In the third phase the male and female stand side by side and head-to-tail, with the male vibrating his tail against the female."

Sounds like after a good night out in Manchester!!!

Remember seeing them when we were in a budget hotel in Florida, keep a nightlight on and they dont come near you.
They love the glue on book bindings btw.

its really bad, my brothers home from uni and hes managed to get scabies from somewhere
now im worried ill get it as well.
he had bedbugs in his room and after he left uni i got his room and found out the hard way. in the past year i've managed to get scabies and bedbugs due to him... i think its because he doesnt keep his room clean so it attracts all kinds of insects.
#36
Pikachu, if I were you I'd demand your old room back and get his room fumigated.

I remember seeing one of those creepy crawlies when I was a kid. I thought they were earwigs.

Do you get scabies from bed bugs?

Also - what treatment did you have for them?
#38
the damage caused by silverfish is negligible and they have no direct effect on human health beyond psychological distress to those who are frightened or disgusted by their appearance, or to those whose books have been destroyed by the creatures. -- Wiki.

So you can stop scratching at least

I see the odd silverfish in our bathroom, which doesn't surprise me as the side panel of the bath was never put back on, so there's a path from our airing cupboard to bathroom, from the kitchen and I'm sure there'll be a hole in the brick leading to the conservatory which I'm sure they can get into via the roofspace or from the roof of the conservatory.

I squish the little bleeders when I see them :P
