Im watching it-dont think sky will pick it up unless the network commits to it-they only have 4 or 5 episodes then it goes on a "long hiatus" and I think we all know what that probably means-it will never be heard of again.

Me either....

I thought torrents are illegal?

never seen the original so can't compare the 2 but so far so good. Reminds me a lot of the 4400 not least because of joel gretsch (the priest) and spotted a 4400 shout out.(woo hoo geek heaven).
Also has the excellent alan tudyk and morena baccarin (firefly) which really cannot be a bad thing. The ratings have been pretty good and has been fairly well recieved so I'd expect more episodes to shown but the way US tv execs think you just never know.

Torrents are completely legal its just 90% of the content is copyrighted. A torrent just tells you where the information is held, the person sharing that information is breaking the law. 4ondemand, iplayer all peer to peer (computer to computer) which is very much the same thing.

Yes, I'm watching it, and enjoying it. Much better than Flash Forward, which started off great but is now spiralling quickly downwards. Is V suppoed to be a mini-series? 6 episodes? Or is it long term..............
#19
Loving V, great start to a series, might have to dig out the old series too.

I've seen both Episode 1 & Episode 2 so far, but my interest is waning already.

Maybe because I know the premise of the story already (having watched the original when it was aired the first time on UK TV back in 1983), or because the present High Commander of the Visitors ("Anna" played by Morena Baccarin) is nowhere near as manipulative or 'evil' as the portrayal of the same character (then called "Diana" played by Jane Badler).

I am aware I have grown-up since & (the physical attraction of the female lead versus) the shock of the pay-off at the end of the first episode of each series is not going to be as memorable, but I am just not 'warming' to any of the characters in the remake.

The final scenes at the end of the first part to 1983's two-part mini series were far more iconic than the discovery of the "truth" in the current version. (I'm trying not to give the plot away here for anybody who is reading without knowing the story).

The sub-story line with the kids is getting tiresome already... and we're only two hours into the whole story. Not a good sign.

13.9 million US viewers tuned-in for the first episode. It would be interesting to see how many were retained.

10.6 million, big drop off but still fairly decent ratings abd doesn't incude dvr numbers.

On a similar topic, it is difficult to assess if the new series has "dumbed-down" the impact for a younger audience, or whether the later episodes will not be very child-friendly at all.

(The "birth" scene for instance...)

I seem to recall the first series went out to a UK audience quite late.

My three kids watched the second episode of "V" with me last night (two of them 8, or under), and they didn't have a problem with the content. However, the younger of the two had struggled to watch all of the "Doctor Who" episode that same afternoon!?!

Did the 13.9 million include digital recording statistics though?

13.9 million to 10.6 million is just under a quarter of the audience lost.

If the ratings continue to fall like that then I'd say it is not being well-received, but if they now remain static around the 10 million mark then I would think that the producers & the ABC network will be happy.

not as far as I know, they are usually released a week or 2 after the episode airs.

but your right if there is another big drop off then ABC might start to get nervous.

Took my 4yr old out to nursery this morning and he was pointing at the puddles and saying " Dr Who!!!". I hadn't seen the episode until later today but thank goodness it wasn't raining!

he now wants to watch *wriggles five fingers in front of his mouth* "Oood-Donna!"

Goodness knows what he will think of V!!!

:)

One of the Ood appeared in last night's episode.

Just ask him if he's bovvered.

Well, to be fair, my "youngest" may just have been bored with last night's "Doctor Who" & didn't want to watch it past the first 10 or 20 minutes. I didn't think it was anywhere near the quality of writing Russell T. Gopher has churned out in the past (he had a co-writer last night too; maybe that was the "problem").

It raised an interesting point at the end about our friendly-neighbourhood Time Lord going "rogue", but he realised his "mistake" (I think) before the credits rolled.

I hope this doesn't mean another spin-off series in a parallel dimension...

Anyway... I won't go on... if you get the chance to watch it... do so & then we can chat about it further if you wish.

Have watched the opening 2 episodes. So far seems very similar to the original series. Very enjoyable.

Anna is nicer than Diana too!

Do you think Anna is more pleasant to look at, or a less evil villainous character?

Or is a better fit?
