The problem is they are only showing the first 4 episodes now and if there's enough interest they will show the rest starting in Febuary next year

Looks like I will be waiting until at least February to watch em then!
Sick of starting to get into new series only for them to be cancelled.

Watched the 1080P version after. Its nothing special.
#11
I have just watched it,thought it was pretty good, you need to have seen the original to appreciate though(preferably in the 80's!):)

If people stop watching them on torrents this will happen less.

Don't speak logic like that.

Everyone knows that these programs are made by charitable organisations who do it out of the goodness of their own heart.:-D

And you base this on what facts? Or is it just conjecture.
My bet is the latter.

If it was released worldwide at the same time there would be less need for torrents in the first place.

Touche

I've got to admit I can't see how it could be any easier than downloading a NZB file and just dropping it into AltBinz but everyone to their own :)

Simples. I look at the list of torrents and click the one(s) I want, and they then start to download in uTorrent. Couldn't be easier, until I can control it with my mind. :-D

People pay to have a TV package such as Sky, Cable, HBO + many others.

A company produces a show for a television network which the network hopes will attract enough business / continued subscriptions to outweigh the initial cost. If said show creates the percentages they need they will order a second series.

Further income is garnered through syndication, where they will attempt to sell the show to other networks / countries with the hope of partially offsetting the funding of new series through a guaranteed partnership. These syndications normally start with a couple of shows at a discounted rate where the other TV company guages reaction and possible returns. If less people watch it (those who have already downloaded it illegally probably will not) then they don't buy it, the original network gets no extra money and the series is not extended.

Get it now?

FYI: A previous "Misc" discussion on the series...

not until you can show any programs that uk networks have refused due to people downloading them

Most of the income a show gets is from first run advertising, and therefore viewing figures need to be high on first run to generate a high income, as torrents etc don't affect first showings any more than time shift does the argument fails.

Why do you think the really big shows as Lost, 24 etc are shown so close to each other country to country?

They used to be months apart, not anymore as the advertising space is worth less as so many people have already watched it.
#28
thoroughly enjoyed it. reminds me so much of the 4400 which is no bad thing.

as for the torrents thing well I wouldn't pay to much attention to that. Primarily still the biggest factor in wether or not a show will be cancelled is the outdated nielsen ratings.

If you don't have a nielsen box in the usa then to be frank it doesn't matter if you watch it live or not.

Surely thats a plus point for consumers! :w00t:

Why do you think dvds are a lot cheaper than they used to be and come out quickly after being on at the cinema? :-D

All thanks to downloaders

I responsed to your last post asking for evidence, I provided it and you then moved to a different subject.

Do you really think downloading items for free which you have to pay for is not illegal?

*Mod Edit. Comments stating certain members are thieves for downloading material won't be tolerated. You are getting a little confused between morals and theft as defined by law.

Csiman you gloat about how you donwload games for free, it is thievery pure and simple.

As for name calling you advocate piracy, you are therefore a pirate and a thief simple as. Facts, not name calling.

No, you said things which a lot of people believe to be true, which others, not just me, tried to explain wasn't entirly correct. The US networks do not base decisions to cancel or not on overseas sales, they are based on first run viewing figures, much of the time also on age groups.

Downloading tv programs is not a criminal offence, its not what I think, it is a fact. It's almost impssible to prove a negative so I can't prove what i say, but feel free to post a link to a case where someone was taken to court for downloading anything (not just tv), or a link to the law stating so.
As for the 'things you have to pay for' argument, exactly how much do you have to pay for a show shown on itv for example? I already pay my tv licence, so was it ok for me to download heroes season 1 as it was first run on bbc2, i already paid for that, and they don't sell advertising, so as I had already paid for it is that ok in your view?

As for being a thief, as I said, feel free to post a link to whichever criminal law you think I'm breaking, otherwise it is just name calling
#37
Atrocious logic. Based on what you say the BBC at sometime will get a film which is on at the cinema now. As I pay my TV license I can feel free to download that film now?

Someone makes something and elects to charge for it. Do you think it is okay for you to get it for free?
#38
Recording TV programmes being shown live (& as delivered to you into your home) onto a Video Cassette Recorder tape or DVD recorder is in fact "illegal" as you have not asked the copyright holder's permission in advance.

PS. Is the new "V" series any good?

Erm thats not true either!

It is LEGAL to make a recording of a live TV show. I believe you have 30 days to watch it before you're meant to erase the tape. Everyone of course does this.....Including Chester123:thumbsup::whistling::w00t:

yes yes, but you still haven't backed up your libellous comments about people who download being thieves with any actual evidence.

FACT: It is not a criminal offence to download anything in the UK unless it falls under certain laws like child protection.
FACT: People downloading US made programs in other countries does not affect decisions on if they get cancelled.

If you can post anything to show I'm wrong then please do and I will apologise.
