Just a quick question - I need to complete a V62 form to get my car registered in my name, does anyone know if its possible to do this at a local DVLA office and if they can sort the V5 then and there? Or is the only option to post it to Swansea and wait a month?

Thanks!

They can do the changeover but will still send new logbook out so not really much quicker.

It doesnt always take a month, my dads arrived by the end of the week, Suppose it depends how busy they are. you could always explain to dealer about the log book there may be a way round it,

No way round it. The dealer wont be able to sell the PX without the V5, as they then cant tax it for the new owner.

How come you haven't had the V5 since Jan? Where did you get the car from?

A duplicate V5 is normally sent out within 3-5 working days, but if you are not the registered keeper already it will probably take longer.

On another not eyou will not be able to tax your car without a V5. You can normally use the rmeinder, but if its not registered to you then you wont get the reminder

I bought it from a dealer, but it looks lke they never sent off the form they needed to, bit of a farce really! Im gonna pop to my local DVLA office now in the hope that it speeds up the process a little bit!

Did it come with a new tax disc? If so, then they should have registered it in your name ta the same time.

Best phone the DVLA and see whats happened - they will be able to tell you whether its your details they have on record or not.

So you will need to pay the £25 fee when you send off the v62? Or do you have the new keeper section from the v5?

Have you asked the dealer if he can wait a couple of days until the V5 arrives? If he's desperate for a sale he'll hang on.
