In September the Government announced that all girls aged 12 and 13 would be offered the HPV vaccine to ward of cervical cancer.

30 minutes after receiving her jab at Maricourt Catholic high school in Maghull on October 15t a 12 year old girl started suffering headaches and dizziness. This got worse as time progressed and she is now in Alder hey paralysed from the waist down. The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency say it is probably nothing to do with the vaccine.

Then again they would, wouldn't they?

hmm i would have tolook closer at the evidence, but Guillan-Barre syndrome is fairly uncommon, it could ne linked to the jab due to how it works, but their Doctors have said its not GB syndrome. It could just be a conincidence, or she could have had an underlying condition that suddenly appeared.

No like it's ever happened before......

Argh... don't start planting doubts.... my 12 year old has just had the second dose of this jab......... :?

WTF......? :o

This vaccine (according to research) has less than half the average number of serious complications after giving it, so its quite safe. All it does is stimulate the immune system to produce antibodies against the most common strains of the HPV virus.

And thalidomide was a mistake lol, now all drugs are tested for the problems thalidomide had. And its still given now to patients (not pregant ones tho)

Was this jab compulsory?

Thanks for that! :)

Am I right in guessing that you have more than a lay-mans understanding of all this? :)

No jab is compulsory! I've refused loads of them, TB, Tetanus, diphtheria and a few others.

Why did you refuse them, if you dont mind me asking?:)

After separate clinical trials, the U.S. started using a similar vaccine called Gardasil.

Since then there have been dozens of 'adverse events' reported, including 30 deaths, as well as cases of Guillain-Barré syndrome - a little-understood malfunctioning of the immune system which can cause paralysis.

I cant understand why people say its controvercial, its safer than many vaccines.

A pretty serious mistake. When I was prescribed painkillers I thought I would do some research for side effects etc and was quite amazed to find that there was no explanation as to WHY they worked (apparently the manufacturer's don't even know for certain) just that they do work:? The truth is, no matter how clever humans think they are, they don't really know a hell of a lot;-)

Yeah some drugs they dont know the full mechanisms on how they work (ie paracetamol) but will have gone through up to 15 years of testing to be licenced

This is true, but there again, how many times have you actually read the potential side effects of drugs we all take without thinking about it?? :w00t:

EVERYTHING that has been reported, relevant or not, has to be listed!

It provokes paranoia....... !

I always read them, and a lot of the time they state 'mind altering affects'. False adversing in my experience :x:w00t:;-)

:-D

BTW... just wondering if you know...('cos I don't!!!) What is factor 7???? :?

(as in, I know what it does/did.... but what IS it???)

Lol... I think you will be sorry you answered my question on what you do soon.... :whistling::whistling:)

Bear in mind the figure of 9,749 is out of 16 million cases and the reaction is not the same in all those cases either, the number records that 'a' serious side effect occurred but it's difficult to prove the link between them.

thanks for the heads up i hadnt heard of this jab !

i also found a very interesting link about Gardasil, that is worth a read ! especially the comments from two doctors and a nurse , who let their daughters receive the jab !

Not a vaccine coincidence, an illness coincidence.

Common to relate every illness after a jab, to the vaccine. Rarely the case.

I made sure my daughter got hers, like any responsible parent.

There have been a few cases of measles in our area, one child is in hospital with it. The solution is simple and preventable.

The interesting part there is:

Most adverse events (94 percent) reported to VAERS for Gardasil were not serious and included reports of syncope, pain, headache, nausea and fever.

Given those that suffered adverse effects are already a very small percentage, those that suffered serious adverse affects are a tiny fraction. The quotes from those in the medical profession are quite strange though:

I've had to ask myself why I let my eldest one get an unproven vaccine against a few strains of a nonlethal virus that can be dealt with in many more effective ways.

The vaccine isn't unproven as by the time that article was written it was approved and extensively tested furthermore the virus can lead to cervical cancer which is fatal and there is no known cure for HPV so I don't know what they mean by 'many more effective ways' It suggests they don't really know what they're talking about.

i saw debate on this on program. wot worries me is that our children are the guinea pigs for this drug. There have been reports of children collapsing, being ill, all with in 10 mins of having the injection. Most being disregarded by the medical profession as coincidence. Some yes, not all surely.

If my child were in this age range, personally i would not let her have it done YET! I would want to see published FULL trials and results.

Cervarix is the choice of vaccination in UK

1 in every 20 teenage girls faint getting ANY jab, vulnerable age group.

Children are not being used as guinea pigs, the drug was tested extensively before being approved and by now over 16 million people have taken the vaccine. The difficulty is that a child/teenager will tend to benefit more than older women which means that those who are used for placebo or control testing do not get the HPV protection, there is no cure for the virus. The side effects within 15 minutes of taking the drug have actually been acknowledged and Doctors are advised to let the person sit for 15 minutes after the injection. These are not being disregarded as 'coincidence', the drug is still under active investigation to work out the ties between it and those have adverse reactions.

You may actually want to do some reading before going for the sensational approach.

Thats absoultly correct, we wouldnt be giving any drug if we were not sure of its effectivness and its side effects. All drugs can have side effects, and in a mass vaccination like this, there will always be some adverse reactions, but only in a very small number. The benefits far outweigh any risks

The American government admit this “side effect” on there own website.

totally agree!

Yet if you don't let your child have the vaccine, and 10 years down the line does get cervical cancer, and then asks you, Mum, why wouldn't you let me get the jab, what do you say?
#36
I think its irresponsible parenting to not give your daughter the jab if you are ill-informed, and you gather all your reseach from news and hype

They are not 'admitting' the side effect, its a well known fact. And its also a rare side effect
#38
Think I read once that most drug trials are conducted on men. If this is true then there may be risks that are only unearthed at a later stage when prescibing the drugs to others. I have had side effects from quite a few drugs and attempt to stay away from them as far as possible. Unfornately its not possible for me right now so have to manage the risk against the good.

Hope the girls parents have managed to get good legal advice
banned#39
There will always be people who react badly to drugs, whilst others dont, remember the person who died after their body did not desolve the paracetamol they where taking so over the course of days they actually overdosed and died, should paracetamol been withdrawn?
#40
Of course for most people they work without too drastic a reaction. Surely that is the only way they get passed in the first place.
It may just be coincidental but I know many people who went for the flu jab last year who were really seriously impaired after receiving it.
