not really just think its rubbish to be honest if you love someone you dont need to spend a fortune on showing it on the 14th feb just because they put the name valentines behind it lol.

Who said you need to spend a fortune? How about a card a special meal and watch a film? :)

Dc `s top tip ... make a card or make sure you write your card in pencil, so you can rub the message/name out and recycle for next year

think iv just messed this one up!
got two things I put a load of thought into, and then I went and said something that I dint mean. I don't know where it came from, or why it came out of my mouth. and now the two thoughtful things are going to be a right waste of time, cos she's REALLY pished at me.

I made my wife a card from some scrap paper and decorated it with highlighter pens at work one year. She wasn't overly impressed. :(

What I don't get is the just buy a card comments. Why should I?!! Because someone decided that they wanted to make some money by selling cards to mugs. Me and my partner tend to treat randomly throughout the year and I prefer that rather than last minute card shopping!! I always thought valentines was for singles anyway trying to tell someone they liked them or asking for a date. When did it change to couples??

I was 18, me and bird and another couple went out for meal. Sat and a ate big chinese. Other fella said with it being my birthday as well, he'd pay but was just nipping to toilet before he paid. So rest of us walked out. As it happens he never paid for it, did a bunk. He came running round corner to find that his car had been clamped and he got hit with an 80quid fine.

Someone upstairs was definately having him back for that. Still giggle about it to this day.

Also started dating my last bf on v day and we had a whirlwind romance which lasted nearly 2 year's.

How long have you been with your current bf? It's 2.5 years for me, we went out for a meal on Friday and a show on Saturday so I think I've had a pretty good year this year. I'm certainly the happiest I have ever been which is the best thing ever.

I'm finding it very hard to get out my house this morning - postman has delivered a ridiculous amount of post today, all red envelopes. I wonder what they are?

They've got a lot of hearts and kisses on them - do you think the inland revenue have a new way of getting their money?

tbh, I agree. why should you need 1 day of the year to express your love for someone, if you really like/love em anyway? We spent £100+ each last year and you dont get half as much as you would on a normal (non valentines day!)

This year, I'm cooking a lovely meal (Scallops with Black Pudd and Mint Puree, and Chicken stuffed with herbs, chilli and garlic in a creamy mushroom sauce) with mini roast pots (all homemade as far a possible! ie: bought scallops and chicken! lol)

The money we would have spent, minus the cost of the food (approx £20) can go to paying the bills in a house we BOTH live in!!

That sounds a lush meal Disco.

Valentines is great when you have a loved one but very lonely when you haven't
I don't mind it being a big money making scam, you have a choice whether or not to buy into it.
My husband is cooking me a meal for the first time EVER tonight. Its been nice knowing you all :D

My lucky girl will be getting to spend a little more time with me tonight. Usually, I allow her 4 or 5 minutes of my company a night. Tonight, she'll be allowed up to 10 minutes (give or take a few).

And you thought romance was dead!
