I am going to NY, taking in Valentines and I want to take my wife to the best (Hot deal) Restaurant, on Feb 14. I intend to stay near Times Sq, so would like it to be in that general area and i realise that I will need to book. Recommendations please?

Good God man... If you are going to such a romantic hotspot, why on earth are you taking your wife? Are you deranged or merely newly wed?

Married 26 years. Can you come up with the goods, or not?

Calm down sir, a spot of banter is customary in these parts

Remember and take heavy winter clothing, last time we were there for valentines it was extremely cold.
Will post pic in a sec of snowdrifts

Apologies, no disrespect intended. Obviously, this is a pressure situation. Have come up with the goods for the trip, now need to keep all brownie points intact with the valentines meal topper. All and any suggestions much appreciated.

Would recommend hard rock for great food and service and mind and purchase an all access pass while you are there , well worth it for the money.

Went Valentines 2006 for a mates wedding and discovered Le Bernardin on 51st St near the Broadway theatres. We walked in thinking we couldn't get a tab;e but they had a cancellation. Best darn seafood and service I've ever had in a USA restaurant.

Link to details here

Cost us about $100 for 2 of us so not sure about prices now

Brilliant website, fantastic menu but probably prefer something based around steak. $150 supplement for Kobe steak probably a bit steep, even after 26 years!!

lol ok budget then ?

I would recommend Keens for steak but that may be expensive as steaks were about £25, now with the economy, not so sure...will hunt down the website

we were staying on 34th St and it was about a 5 min walk........they make a proper steak too

I am confused? Surely the (hot deal) part of your question is a mistake and you meant to ask for the best restaurant? Damn the expense man it is romance we are talking about here! ONTOH everywhere has nearby KFC.

I'm beginning to think that I haven't booked enough days. Any hoo, you are getting the right idea, budget conscious yet wanting the meal of a lifetime, steak loving but classy rather than cattleman's (she is a classy gal), don't want to walk too far cos of the foot deep snow. Do your best.

KFC? Now, there's a thought

we went to a restaurant in greenwich village where they use all local produce. was very small and intimate. if it interests you i will find the name.

not a bad experience, but nothing memorable. you can go to a hard rock in london so i dont like going to one if i've paid lots to get to america. i dont mind chains or nething, ive been to most major american ones but for valentine's i would go for something more personal

If you want a bit of romance there is a fantastic revolving restaurant on top of the Marriot hotel. Great views of New York from up there and right next to Times Square - called The View Restaurant
