VAT increase swallowed by Amazon?

Was suprised to see that the items in my basket at Amazon did not increase to reflect the new VAT rate. Are they taking this of their profit margin? How are other retailers handling this?

Sorry, not living in the UK at the moment so maybe I am not fully in the picture?!

Seen a few prices go up in Currys.. 3DTV package has now gone from the £898 i paid for it to £1050 odd.. Although that can’t entirely be to with the VAT increase.

It wouldn’t surprise me if some stores hike the prices of some items up, in order to keep the prices of others the same as before the VAT increase.

Indeed it would be but I'm sure they'd find shop work elsewhere.

I'm sure it wouldn't affect my Waitrose and M&S bill too much.

Just seen that solid gold doorstops and diamond encrusted paperweights have gone up 2.5%, gutted.. Should of thought to beat the VAT increase :(

Many of the items saved in my Amazon basket have gone up in price over the last few days. That's why they can afford to absorb the VAT increase today (_;)
