**Just seeing whether there is enough interest in a F1 version of the fairly successful football threads**

Grid:

1 germany S Vettel 1:54.101
2 brazil F Massa 1:54.242
3 spain F Alonso 1:54.608
4 great britain L Hamilton 1:55.217
5 germany N Rosberg 1:55.241
6 australia M Webber 1:55.284
7 germany M Schumacher 1:55.524
8 great britain J Button 1:55.672
9 poland R Kubica 1:55.885
10 germany A Sutil 1:56.309

Starts midday tomorrow...

Button struggled, Hamilton i suspect actually had a VERY good lap to get 4th. Should be an interesting race.

Coverage starts at 11.10am

Race at Midday

sorry to rain on your parade VB1 (no homo) :p

I think the Mclarens may run better race pace than quali
#5
Only 10 cars on the grid. Won't bother watching.
#6
will be interesting later on in season if Hamilton & Button are both in the running for championships if either get any preference by McLaren

think Schumacher will be too rusty to make an impact early on in season

LOL ... I actually thought he seems a really decent bloke when they spoke to him.

I think Schumacher has lost his edge at the moment, but I'm sure it'll change.

Looking forward to this season, should be really interesting, particularly now the ban on refuelling during the race has been introduced.

Should now be looking at (stop to start) Pit stops of under 4 seconds !
#10
My prediction

Alonso will whoop everyone this season
#11
Thanks for putting up the results before I watched qualifying. :x
#12
wooop woop F1 is back baby

think quali pace will not be a true picture to what happens later on today. Think Mclarens have a better long run pace along with the Mercedes will be interesting to see the whole Hamilton/Button driving styles come together when they have to look after the options during the first stint.

Also was interesting what they were saying thru Q3 about whether if anyone would not actually qualify and go out on a brand new set of tyres....ok no one did but they pointed out after that Rubens may have a good chance in 11th with his new set I think he will be running primes first also. So it will be very interesting indeed.

Hopefully the Schuminator can be ruthless as always and dive through the field, no doubt he will be up to pace in the next few races, you can see that he wasn't best pleased with Rosberg being a constant 4/5 tenths quicker than him during practice sessions so he will want to rectify it.

Should be an awesome season though, nice to see Massa 1-0 up on Alonso though, the limelight has been off him and its great to see him back in the F1 seat this year after his accident last season

Karun FTW!! haha his interview b4 was cool, calm and collected and tbh he didn't look like he was doing a bad job out on track, seeing as it was his first time in that car.

The cockpit view with Senna though showed just how shocking that car is atm, a lot of input going into the wheel and not being able to get the power down on the exit

ha fat chance I'll be up in time to watch this now. Its annoying how each week the races are on at different times, I hate Bernie has gone to Asia when the core F1 fans are in Europe.

Because they aren't using HD camera's to film it !

From BBC F1 website :

'We will not be able to provide F1 coverage in high definition this year. The BBC relies on Formula 1 Management (FOM) for the provision of all of its live pictures and as such the broadcasting of high definition pictures is dependent upon whether FOM uses HD cameras or not.'

^ All true,

However, it is the BBCs choice to stick with the ultra annoying 4:3 "safe" on screen graphics.

See the difference:

4:3 safe:

16:9 graphics:

On digital, the vast majority must be 16:9 now, so its just mad to be using 4:3 on the red button feeds

jake humphreey was on Radio 1 on Friday morning speaking to Chris Moyles about the HD. He was saying he gets about 6 messages a day on twitter from people asking about it being in HD. He said its on course to be in HD for the start of 2011 season.

Why is Schumacher's abbreviation MSC and not SCH?
His brother is not racing. :?
#31
Can anyone on VM tell me if their red button thing is working properly? Mine is all messed up. I just wanted to listen to crofty and JV.

No but going to bed at half past three in the morning doesn't help. Anyway I was up in time for the start of pre-show :-D

I think one of the problems with the lack of action within the pack is this track...

That new section really splits the cars and seems to do nothing but create larger and larger gaps.

as you can tell i havent followed it properly before, and i see what you mean, but for the first weekend I think it is fine.
#37
Some big names in the driver list and the teams list. Hope it'll be good. Alonso in a Ferrari should be fun to watch plus the Mclaren dream team and the impressive redbull.
#38
Lewis on the way.... :-D
#39
just got a little more interesting...and hamilton is certainly coming up.
#40
bad news for Vettel
