Currently with vodafone, where you always get a signal, but 3G coverage ain't so hot.

3 seem quite good around here (I got a PAYG sim to test with)

Anyone had any good or bad experiences, especially when it comes to 3G network coverage.

Cheers.

Don't 3 have a poor reputation?
#3
not supposed to be very good around S.Yorks/NE Derbys area...not sure if it improves towards your way
#4
Excellent, my favourite provider where I live. (on o2 atm unfortunately)
#5
They were perfect until I had a problem. Then it was customer service hell. Reception was alright around here too.

BTW, I'd be doing the £15 a month sim only rolling contract, so i wouldnt be in any commitment

Seems pretty good. 3G here in the middle of knowhere kinda, and I get full signal at work, but only 2G. Orange I assume?

I have always been on Voda and never had any problems, would never really bother switching
banned#8
I know what you mean, like i said, go no problems with voda 2g, its pretty much constant, but 3g doesnt even seem as good as i remember orange 3g being a few years ago

Terrible customer service plus couldn't get through most of the time. Didn't have a good signal for phone calls when in my house so thats the main reason why I cancelled when my contract ended. Good idea to go with a rolling contract as they have a cancellation dept unlike anything I have experienced with such a company.

think he means you get through to india ,they dont have a clue what you are saying, they hang up ..comprende;-)

Great signal, customer services aren't too bad if you know how to handle them. Just like all call centres based in India.

I've been on most networks and rate 3 top.

Half the people i speak to says the signal is well dodgy, half say its been sorted now and is very good. Hmm.

Yes this. I would phone up to cancel and they would continually offer me deals and I got fed up with this and say I want to cancel and they would ask me what deal am I getting elsewhere. It all went round in circles and I was on the phone for half an hour on 3 occasions. Ended up going to a Three shop who had to argue down the phone with someone in Mumbai to cancel my contract. Anyway sorry for the rant but just wouldn't recommend Three to anyone.

I had a similar experience with cancelling my 3 wifi deal. Spoke to a female in a British call centre who kept trying to talk me into staying with them and couldn't grasp the concept that I was on benefits and couldn't afford it anymore! After 15mins, I came off the phone vowing never to sign up for anything with them.

Have been with 3 for a few years now, prev O2 and Voda' .
3's reception/deal best for me, customer service can be a pain but always managed to resolve problems.
All the network providers will try to keep your contract 3 might try a bit harder. If you need to cancel email instructions.

In the mean time here's a free 3 sim with £10 credit/300 txts/unlimited 3 2 3/free skype 2 skype/150 mb internet and internet messengerGo Mobile or direct from 3

my partner got a great upgrade last month he had only been with them for 18 months and ended up with a free 16gb Iphone,on a £17 a month contract with free internet, calls & texts.

also no signal probs in essex
banned#18
Signal has improved past few months and they are still upgrading. Customer service is a joke they can't take no for an answer but you must persist.

Three 3g is great around here, Great service and good online info in my3. Good signal strenth too Shame about customer service they are hard work when you call them but overall there Ok, (Ive been with them 2 years now and no plans to leave Maybe an Iphone now ;-)
#20
You can't get a signal on 3 in Doncaster Frenchgate Interchange or the Tesco next door ;-)
#21
They're good value and have a much better 3g signal than o2 most places I go.

The call centres can be quite fun if you know what to expect and decide to play a game with the operators:-D

Just don't believe a word they tell you when they offer you anything you can't find in writing.
#22
Fine until you have to deal with their CS dept. Was at the end of my contract and wanted to upgrade package and get better phone. I actually wanted to pay them more money but their CS advisors on phone and instore where a complete joke. Ended up going elsewhere.

Haha can you get any signal in the interchange though? Its like a tomb! Tesco is a bit more dubious but even that is in the shadow of the concrete monstrosity

Other than that what is it like around these parts DD?

Cheers for replies btw

I had the same problem. It took me around a week to cancel my contract.

Never, ever again!

On a positive note, I never had problems with signal though :-D

These were from July 2009, so not too long ago, 3g coverage in certain areas (remember that 3g is ALL that three have, all other networks can use 2g as well, but it gives an idea on internet coverage):

Added now  equally as shameful as o2s, and remember that this is all the coverage that 3 have but apparently they are going to add more coverage, in fact they might have already, o2 have said the same.

Oh yeah and remember that Orange and T-mobile are merging and so are their coverage maps.

You get booted to orange if no three signal though right?

And apparently there is some new deal with tmobile and three(and now orange) to consolidate mast networks
#29
T-Mobile and Three also have a coverage sharing deal due to go into affect soon

In a year Orange will have the best network by far once T-Mobile is completely folded in, plus network sharing with Three. Also Orange already has the best 2G network coverage is the country.
