Some of the UK’s most popular cars have been recalled by their makers over potential problems with their airbags.

Models from Volkswagen, Vauxhall, Toyota and Honda are among vehicles that were recalled over safety issues in March.

Vehicle recalls are common in the automotive industry and are generally a result of the Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), or the manufacturer determining that a fault in a vehicle constitutes a safety defect. According to the DVSA Code of Conduct, a car must be recalled if: “a failure due to design and/or construction, is likely to affect the safe operation of the product/aftermarket part without prior warning to the user and may pose a significant risk to the driver, occupants and others. This defect will be common to a number of products/aftermarket parts that have been sold for use in the United Kingdom”.

Key recalls from last month were

Why are Ford & GM including in the picture above. It's a bit misleading as they aren't affected

It's a stock image, but can amend if it annoys. Technically, Vauxhall was only sold from GM last month anyways :)

How true do you think this is ?

i have checked my VIN and apparently i have an affected model - but checking on vw website it shows no such info http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/recallsSubmit

I'm inclined to believe vw , but its a potentially serious safety issue in question...

Will probably give them call.

My VIN is on there too. :(

I'd rather believe the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency

VW probably haven't updated that page in a while, as the recall was only issued 22nd March.

Just got off the live chat on vw.com (there was this page too that didn't work http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/about-us/issues/recall-service)

Yes its legit and mine is affected, booked in just round the corner with courtesy car on 25th - get it out the way, don't fancy having dodgy airbags.

Thanks for raising op

Yeah, I don't want dodgy airbags either. Chatting with them now.

They have stock ? Had a 3 month wait on my BM, global manufacturer they all used did something dodgy. Hence the wait, lucky if can get done that quick though

Just spoken to VW, and my car is definitely NOT part of the recall! :D
#14
There's a supplier either going out of business or putting on a massive insurance claim somewhere. What happened to the quality control!

Glad I purchased the Ferrari instead of the maserati now.

I called up honda and they told me that mine has a recall for the driver airbag
