Massivly Overpriced!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We've just got our pictures back from Venture and I have to say that they are fantastic. Yes the are VERY expensive but I don't intend on ever going back again and will have these on the wall forever, not like the Olan Mills prints that used to get replaced each time as they date really quickly. It's great fun going for the photo shoot and they get some fab shots (of course), hardly any posed pictures at all which is what we wanted for our family (me, OH and 2 daughters 3 & 7).

I know a lot of people won't agree but I personally am very pleased with the pictures, the frames are handmade and are of an extremely high quality. They also do payment plans through Black Horse that don't have extortionate interest rates which is how we could afford to buy ours that I consider an investment.

Go for it, like you I put it off for ages because I knew I wouldn't be able to resist buying more than the freebie but finally decided to go for it when someone mentioned that you could pay for them monthly, and they're not pushy so you can easily just walk out with your freebie if you want to. Don't even think that they'll be in the same league as Olan Mills, probably why they went bust!!

scam IMO, we bought a voucher for a half price picture and free studio session, trying to sell a picture for £2000, I was not happy, for that I could buy the camera equipment myself and hire a studio for less, avoid.
#11
Good quality photographs are an investment in my opinion, like any artwork. I've seen the work that Venture do and it is stunning.

They are expensive for some but are lifetime keepsakes

Just what I was trying to say but you managed it in less words. They are expensive but mine will be on the wall until the day I die.

How is it a scam? If you only want your half-price picture then that's all you have to take, that's not a scam as you're getting what you paid for, you only have to take the other pictures if you choose to.

the pictures I chose wait for it, came to

£9450.50

I like art and have bought some nice pieces and go to private views, Anita Klein mainly but that is hideous ridiculous and I did buy the camera equipment myself and hire a studio for far far less and can do it again now I have the gear.

OMG, what the heck did you choose (or how many)? I got 2 HUGE framed prints, one with 7 different pictures in it and it was only a fraction of your cost, about an eighth to be exact, so either you picked some major picturage or you WERE being ripped off.

Who is so full of themselves that they get massive pictures taken of themselves, then plaster them on their walls? ^^^^^^ obviously

dont even have to buy the camera, our studio hire offers Cannon 5D as an optional extra, 1 hour studio and camera hire - £70, you have complete control over all the large files to edit and print as many as you like at upto billboard size........ like I said, massivly overpriced :thumbsup:

Wow, what a lovely lovely thing to say. Perhaps it's people who like to see their children on their walls and are proud of their family, if that makes me a ****** then sobeit, but I so don't agree. Anyway, I'm not getting into an argument about it, that's not why I come on here so - over and out.

was about a year ago, think is was a couple of ice 5 range and about 5 smaller one at 250 each and some of the 'arty' multiframed ones.

We didn't buy any in the end, we were led to a viewing room and asked to select the pictures and frames we liked from their presentation, before any prices was put forward or shown, the sell was very hard and we had to leave, a quick google check revealed they are not viewed that positively.

It's either over or out, not both :?

Top secret this....
over = expect reply
out = no reply expected

Whenever I've used a walkie talkie (albeit as a kid!) I said over and out. Because when you finish your sentence you say 'over' so if your'e finishing totally it's 'over and out' surely?!

:"Over and Out", a phrase, meaning "transmission over,"

You are obviously a poker player where your meanings mean something else entirely ON THEIR OWN, not as a phrase together :roll:

I know what you mean, threads never end how they start do they!! I don't usually get drawn into these things either, just sit there and read, but this person really wound me up. Your business sounds great by the way, shame you can't self-promote and advertise on here, even if it's self-promotion a deal can still be a deal so don't see why they have that rule.
#30
busy enough as it is, don't really need to advertise on here.

It's OK providing you dont want lots of photo's. For £25 you get one pic and an hour in the studio, which is a good laugh - that cannot be a rip off.

I didnt come up against the hard sell at all, thye were quite nice and respected any budget, or lack of one.

I would want more than one picture tho so it would be a bit expensive

We had some shots done at Pret-a-Portrait @ Center Parcs, cost £35 for the session with a 7x5 print included. Rather than buying extra prints we bought a CD with a selection of the images on, cost about £110 for 14 images, means we can do whatever we want with them without reducing the quality by scanning a print. :thumbsup:

From a photographic point of view there's nothing mystical about what Venture do and much of what makes their shots look so 'different' is down to the way they're post-processed. Have heard horror stories from others about the 'hard-sell' but then I guess everyone's experience is different.
