Victim of Fraud - Cellnet transaction - Possiable relation to Play.com

£30 debited from my account today, 4 mins after the order i placed with Play.com was debited....coincidence?
The £30 debited is from Cellnet which i've been told is responsiable for o2 and t-mobile top-up transactions.
To me it looks like someone processing my Play.com decided to top-up their phone from my account.
Seeing as the Hoody post from play.com, posted here last night was quite popular, it may be worth checking your accounts.
My card has now been blocked, awaiting a new one, and natwest fraud are taking up the case.
Of course this may have nothing to do with Play.com but worth a check.

The fraud dept at your bank will be able to see the merchant code used on the transaction, if that's anywhere near Play they may take action, There are other way to trace the transaction as well. The important thing is the cards been blocked.
Natwest will contact the Cellnet and their fraud team will see what mobile was topped up and who it belongs to (and remove the credit from the phone acc).
I work as a fraud investigator for one networks, we deal with these all the time. . .

Same happened to me but it was after using the Carphone Warehouse online, lots of others have had the same problem with them too.

It was certainly them as i hadn't used that particular CC anywhere else.

You were lucky. It took me over 3 months to get £32 back from them. Cost me a good chunk of that in phonecalls trying to get it back after they kept not giving the promised refund. I closed the card after that.

You were lucky !

I used Play 3 days ago and am just on to the bank now as noticed a massive lack of funds in my account today and they have just confirmed that yesterday a wire transfer was done to Deutschbank for £512 !! Hope it doesn't take long to get back cause that's a lot of money to go missing, thieving barstweards :x

Gees, I hope you get that back really quick.
When the £30 was taken from my account the balance was only £35, so they couldn't take much more, but obviously worked the amounts down to get the most out.
My account is a joint one, though Natwest have confirmed it was my card that had been used. I only got the new card last month, apart from Play, the only other site it's been used on is Bissell.
My card has now been blocked and a new one on the way.
Natwest have said it could take between 2-3 weeks for the money to be credited back.

I had this not too long ago, and so did somebody else on here, it was Playtrade that was pending for mine, luckily I cancelled my card in time and the money never cleared but my bank put it down as fraud and sent me a form to fill in.

I'm with Nationwide and have to say, really impressed with how they're dealing with it.

Because the funds haven't cleared yet (I check my account every day which is how I noticed there was a big difference between my balance and available amount) they might be able to stop it in time, in which case it will be back in my account tomorrow, or if not, I'll have it back within 7 days maximum which I'm happy with. Don't get me wrong, it's inconvenient only having £100 left in the bank, but it's only for 7 days so I'll survive. I was expecting them to say at least 30 days which is why I'm not jumping up and down so much.

I am praying for a nasty case of the clap, genital warts and piles followed by being run over by a bus to happen to the person that did this though..... :p

When my hubby ordered the 3g I phone off carephone warehouse, his order was declined as the bank would not authorise payment and the card was blocked. They said it was always done with carphone warehouse online due to the massive amount of fraud the site generates

Their ID checking isn't the best, they seem more interested in the commission !!
