Has anyone else got the Virgin+ box. I've had it in now for about 3 months and the box seems really annoyingly slow. I get impatient and press the buttons too many times then it catches up Is it slow…

Hey, ive had my v+ about the same length of time and i think it is much slower than the older box but im hoping its just because it can do more (well, thats what im hoping)but i think its caught up with itself now though, as oh has just said it needs "bedding" in...like a new cars engine

Welcome to Virgin+. Sorry but I passed you on your way in as I've already left for SkyHD. Can't see the point in having a HD box with no HD programmes.

My parents have a V+ for the HD and recording. Playing on it I can also say its slow, especially when compared to the basic Virgin box. I always put it down to the ability to pause always being active and scanning so to say.

No problems for me, seems fast and responsive as always

No HD Channels ? BBC, Channel 4, ESPN the only ones sky have are one's sky owns, like sky movies. Sky menu's are a little slow now with the new update but not as bad as virgin. Virgin the exception of HD channels, not a major for me has much better features - 4OD, BBC I, ITV, double the recording capabilities, 3 programmes can be recorded at once.

Virgin is very non responsive
Sky is a little with new update but much quicker than virgin

( I have both )

V+ box is very slow, you can't flick through the channels like you do on the standard box because when you switch channel it starts to cache the program, hence the delay.

Just means you use the program guide a lot more.

Welcome

Virgin Media

V+

Linda ...

And then it all catches up and the cached button presses all catch up and are executed in 3 seconds. It's annoying but at least you're not paying money directly to Murdoch.

Ok, so they have 3? I joined Virgin 2 years ago and was constantly promised that there would be more HD channels coming soon. At the time there was only BBC HD. So now 2 years later there are 3?
Progress I suppose..........

No there are more, about 2 pages I think, just the only one's I actually watch, I'm not saying virgin's HD is equal to sky's sky have sky 1, movies and sports and won't give any to virgin for obvious reasons. I especially like sky 1 HD, not upscaled like most channels. You pay £10 with sky though depends how often you use the HD features. At least with virgin you have all the HD channels in catchup-tv or on demand series so it doesn't take up all the space

Yeah, I watch all the sports in HD and a lot of the documentaries, and some of the movies. As you say, both have pros and cons. I had the vip package with virgin but left for sky purely for the hd content. Stayed with virgin for broadband though as I think the 50meg is unbeatable. Costs me a fortune now though having to pay both!!

this did happen to me, at first i thought it was because my box was full of recorded stuff, cleared most of it off but no difference still slow and always 'catching up' then i started getting errors saying smart card invalid.. a guy came and replaced the card and its been superfast since, no problems whatsoever. I'd get onto them.
