Not happy i just go my bill today and been charged an extra £30 to what i was use to paying before.

Im quite good at blagging and i got a deal last year for XL bb ,xl tv and xl phone all for £29 a month.

The guy told me it was for life so i was really happy with that , ive had it for about 11 months now and when i rang up to add caller display i think thats what messed it up.

I rang up to complain but they said i should of never got that much of a discount and your only allowed 1 discount and i was having numerous discounts!and i was lucky to have had it for so long.

Can they just change it like this , they are telling me they can and if i want to cancel i have to give 30 days notice , yet they gave me no notice to add this extra cost on my account.

I was happy with what i was paying so i dont want to now suddenly pay double the difference...grr im annoyed now.

How much are others paying please and what package are you on?

I want to see if i can blag another deal.

Probably be a good idea to go look through their terms and conditions, they are probably covered by it though.

ring 151 and tell them, I did and they reverted back to original offer

Well she is telling me sorry it wasnt explained to me that it was only a limited offer , but thats what it was , yet i was never told this when i took out the offer....i cant prove otherwise so i guess they can do as they wish :?

Only stuck with them because of the deal , now this is making me think of going to Sky as i hate being messed around

Ive tried , she said its not possible as the offer is not there to give anymore and she cant understand how i got it.

I rang 3 different people , they all will not give me the offer again , only offers if i downgrade

all they said they could do is downgrade my phone line to L and L bb and XL tv for £37 a month , so ill pay£7 more and be downgraded on bb and phone line :(

That was a pretty great deal you had!

Just call up cancellations, ask to leave, they may offer you a deal to keep you , if they dont, just call back up and tell them you have changed your mind about leaving as you have 30 days to give notice to leave!

I'm paying £86 for..

20mb XL
TV XL + All Sky Sports/ All Sky Movies
V+ Box
Standard box in another room
Phone XL (talk mobile & international / caller display)

you had a whopping discount, surprised they let that go on for so long!!!

I'm thinking of changing the xl phone as i don't use it enough. They are due a call from me but i like the speed of my broadband so they never reduce the price by much when i do ring! I would work out how much you would pay if you went to sky for what you want then call virgin and let them know you are leaving. I tried this a few months ago but it worked out I was saving more being with Virgin (plus i prefer cable to adsl)

Thats still not too bad!

Did you actually call to cancel?

I pay £15.50 for telephone rental, talk weekends and M broadband. Even 2mb broadband is still fine IMHO for downloading a couple of films & 4-5 tv episodes per day.

Phone up, ask to speak to a manager. Explain to manager what has happened, and how you've agreed on a certain price, and this agreement has now been breached by VM. Ask him for his name and contact details. Tell him that you find this price rise and breach of agreement unacceptable, and demand that he, as he is legally obliged to do under the Data Protection Act, sends you a copy of the call recording in which this deal was agreed, as you plan to report the issue to Trading Standards, and take VM to small claims court to recoup the money taken without consent.

Should shake them up a litt.e

yeah but I think it's the broadband that takes it right up there. On it's own 20mb broadband is £29 monthly for first 12 months then £36 monthly from then on. I download a lot so I doubt i'd not want to go lower.
I wouldn't mind some kind of discount though as i've been paying the same for almost 12months, im going to give them a call at the weekend :)

no thats extra depending on what package you're on already, (£26 extra if you're on XL) you get it in with the price if you're on the vip bundle though.

Just a quick note - You can get it for £14.50 if you opt for e-billing only, i.e. getting your bills via email and not the post. Another 12 quid a year saved. :)

(same applies to anyone with VM who wants a quid off per month)

Yup good one  not sure if it will work but ill give it a go , as i know for sure he told me it was for life on the phone as this is the main question i asked.

Wow £86 a month and no discounts? no way i would pay that , you are deffo due a discount , ring up to cancel lol

If they can afford to give these offers then they are obviously over charging in the first place as they still make a profit even on the dicount they give me otherwise i wouldnt get it

My contract expires this month with VM and I called up to say that I was considering o2/be - I said I could get o2 (bb and line rental) for £17.50/month as I'm an o2 mobile customer and BT would welcome me back. I'd be getting 8mb on o2/Be as opposed to 2mb on VM not to mention a lot less headaches.

The guy went off (I guess to discuss with a manager) and came back to say they can't match o2 and, I kid you not, their best and only feeble line to keep me as a customer was "If you change to o2 you have to consider, though you'd get faster broadband, you may be offline while it's being installed. We can upgrade your line, I think, without having to come out. Think of installation charges". I already said there wouldn't be any installation charges with o2 and even if they were they'd be eclipsed by the massive Quidco cashback I'd get for signing up!! (also mentioned that)

Best Virgin could offer was 1. Keeping 2mb bb with standard phone for £14.50 + £1.75 for call barring (got house sharers) or 2. 10mb bb with standard phone for about £25 including call barring.

Will call them twice a week until the end of the month until they give me something better.
