The virgin installation team can be cowboys at times although from past experience the sales guys are the worst!

What is the point in cancelling if the mess has already been made? Call them and complain requesting money for the damages caused (as long as this isn't just a dirty floor).

Although best of luck trying to either cancel or get a goodwill gesture from the Indian call centres oO

It's about time there was some sort of drilling going on in that bedroom.

Sorry.

You probably think, it doesnt look bad, but considering it was just the white box with a cable stapled to the top of the skirting board... this is a mess

Did your Quidco track or get validated? oO
banned#14
They could have done a better job, drilling another hole inside the white covering and putting the 2way adapter inside there, making no mess and me happy but nooo, they had to ruin it

Dust it up, put a cabinet in front of it. Job done :)
The box in my flat does not look much better to be honest however when the lad was installing it for us he was very flexible.

Pretty sure they can't do that. A few of my mates have virgin too and we all have the ugly 2 way box.

The white box is already loaded with wires anyway..

Is there really nothing behind that box? lol
When they bodged mine in a student house i was lucky that the box covered everything.

tomorrow i will get the screwdriver on it, but im guessing, the cable from the outside jobs a splitter which leads to the one inside the house, nothing more
#22
hmm strange, the single wire from my white box goes into the single side of the 3 way box. I don't seem to have any black wires either.
banned#23
From my point of view. inside the white box, there is a black cable going into a joiner which then the white cable fees from... if they put a 2way joiner inside the box, u could have the main feed leading into 2 way splitter, into the white box.

thats terrible, for a start they should have used white cable, and at least tidied up. The hole in the wall should have been plugged too.
I would complain and get them back out.

Thats what i thought, atleast a plug..

Outside leading into my bedroom connected with 2 way one leading back downstairs into living room, and 1 leading to my box, or the joiner within the white box, i could tidy this up myself, but i have a hole in the wall.

I think tomorrow morning it's time to ring * I'm Leaving Virgin Hotline, and not talk to one of those india call centres.. either they fix it or i leave

it's a shoddy job
but surely you checked it before the bloke left?

We got told a afternoob job, i had planned to go to the gym about 5.30.. they came at 5.40 with only my mum home, who told them to route around the house, but they didn't they went from my bedroom, which they should'nt have.

they left at 6. so im guessing they rushed the job, and thought the quickest way would be to do it in my room, they hadn't even stapled the wire into the skirting

and to make things worse, my box keep sticking on AP 52

Install teams don’t work directly for VM it’s an agency and they get bonus paid for every job they close down (finished or not). That is bad for a start they shouldn’t use black cable unless it’s outside. Inside the white box on the wall you should have your main feed coming in (should be black cable) that goes into a filter (there for safety in case of lightning strike / power fault feedback to you and your equipment). so there wouldn’t be any more room inside to put the 2 way splitter but they could used a double box. the reason your getting the AP52 error is because when they fitted the splitter it dropped your signal down for both of the feeds by 3.5db so it dropped you out of range the AP52 means it cannot get a lock on to the head end so your box will not boot (repeated turning on, off sometimes will get a lock, but I bet your picture keeps getting a lot of Pixilation and chirping sound? They should have gone to the cab at the end of your street and moved you up onto the next tap. Then they should have tested the reading back at the house.
If you’re going to phone them make it after 10am and before 4pm that way you will have a better chance of getting the UK.
Where do you live city/town I might be able to get you a direct number for you to ring in the UK?
No I don’t work for Virgin before anyone asks. I used to be an engineer for them but left at the end of last year but I still have contacts.

Let me know how you get on

The OP has every reason to be miffed at the mess they made in the property.

On a separate note DLM, I'm concerned that you are checking out the assets on my avatar!!!!

They should sort it out for you? That used to be part of my job sorting all the **** all the installers messed up :-( trust me the guy that turns up tomorrow will be as pi##ed as you are cos most people vent their anger at them thinking they are all the same bodgit team that installed it. when he sorts it ask him if you can look at his meter reading it should be +5 -7 or anywhere close to it as that is the optimum reading, you can go to +2 - 3 and you wouldn’t tell the difference but anything out of that he will be pulling your leg. You will know cos he will have to take a trip to the cab but it might have been wired up wrong cos if the splitter has been put in wrong like say output to an input would mess it up. Try not to be hard on him and if he thinks it’s going to take more than 30 mins he will pass the job for reinstall as that’s his maximum time per job. Not his fault it's the company.
Good luck

A Virgin Tech came this morning, checked the signal in my bedroom, looked through the wires and then checked the box at the front of the house moving to the green cabinet, came back and said we were on the highest tear so ANOTHER installation team would be needed, they will be needed to install a bigger wire from the cabinet to give us a better signal strength.

Oh my days :(, atleast the next team might put things back as they should.

We bought a house and our son moved inn, he arranged for Virgin to fit the broadband they gave him the 16 Th of May, my son was at work so I went up and waited for them, I got a Call from the engineer to say that Sky had cut the cable and it would have to be rescheduled and they would let me know, they didn't so I rang them and they said it would be fitted on the 10 Th of May between 1pm and 6pm, at 5 45pm I rang them to ask why no one had been and they had no record of it being fitted, so I put a complaint in and they said they would sort it out and someone would ring me, no one rang and then I found out that they had tried to fit it in the house my son lived at before, then I got a phone call to say they would fit the broadband on the 22nd of may and two engineers would come, one would sort the cable out , but they didn't say he would come on another day. I got a phone call from my son who was very cross as they had woke him up when they were drilling out side, when he had got washed and dressed ready to go to work they had gone, he looked out side to see what thy had done and what a shock, there was red and black dust all over the door / window /floor and cars in the street and the house next door. So I came to the house to see for myself, I could have cried, I rang them up yet again and complained and the lady put me on old and the next thing I was talking to someone els, so I had all the pass words to go through again, at this point I was feeling ill, I had a spinal reconstruction after an accident and I had forgotten to take my morphine, I had no fight left in me, they said that when they come to fit the broadband in on the 22nd they would get them to clean the mess up, so the mess will be left four more days, its just made me feel that I don't want to be with Virgin anymore, I bet Richard Branson's house is nice and clean, he has lost touch with the people who pay for virgin media, he needs to go on secret millionaire and see for himself whats happening to is business.
