Just received this from Virgin Media! It speaks for itself esp the last line about enjoying their service! :x

From 1st July, our broadband helpline number is changing and from then on itll cost 25p per minute to call from a Virgin home phone, plus 10p to connect. Mobiles and other networks may vary. The new number is 0906 212 1111.

Over and above this, we want to make it quicker and easier for you to find the information you need. So when you need help, heres what to do:

Step 1
If youre having trouble with your broadband service, for example if its running slower than it should be, or youre having trouble seeing certain pages, the first thing to do is switch off your computer and modem, then restart it again. This may repair any basic faults right away and get you back up and running quickly.

Step 2
If that didnt work, the next thing to do is call our service status line on 0800 561 0061 to find out if theres a problem in your area. Its absolutely free. Or if you still have access to the internet, you can visit our help site. Its at http://newsletter.virginmedia.com/re?l=bkrmcxI37tfef0I0http://www.virginmedia.com/help

If you have questions about things like how to set up your email account or how to sort out your internet security, youll find the answers online too.

Step 3
If you cant find what youre looking for online, or you cant look online, then you can call our new broadband helpline.

We have over 200 Virgin Broadband experts ready to help if youre having issues with your Virgin Broadband modem or service. So they can help you faster, youll need to have your account details to hand and be at your computer.

If you have a question about equipment that hasnt been supplied by Virgin Media, like your computer or your Blackberry, then youll need to get in touch with your manufacturer or you can call the PC helpline on 0906 991 0001. It costs £1 a minute plus 10p to connect. Mobiles and other networks may vary.

We hope that helps and that you continue to enjoy the same great service!

Yes the call from a virgin line is 25p + 10p connection but what will it be from another line or mobile? Also how long will they keep you waiting they are bad enough at present.
I intended to complain to the regulator.

I just wish they would sort out their poxy TV service. All we keep getting is the splash screen saying our smart card is faulty and then after say 20 seconds it goes away again, only to return in about 5 minutes time.

They said it is because our service is being upgraded and these problems will occur.

I don't like to kick a dog when its down but this is making viewing a bit of a problem :x

That is for the PC help-line

If it's their equipment at fault when you ring then you have a full basis to claim back any phone charges from them as they are contractually obliged to provide fully working and serviced equipment.

Unlike Sky who sell/give you the equipment and wash their hands of it.

BY had a technical helpline (for non broadband issues) on a premium line for ages.

If this is for customer helpline for the broadband service or direct help for anyt service they provide then I expect (or hope) Ofcom will have something to say about that.

Saying that cable service is extremely simple to deliver but if there is a fault their end and to charge is basically extortion.

surely someone will have a geographic number on say no to 0870 ;) or do they not include 090 numbers?
#8
Plenty of numbers on saynoto0870 but with this surely they will change their present numbers.
The point also is although we are aware of the saynoto0870 plenty of people will call this number and the phone customers(virgin media) are use to free calls to the isp on their lines. How many of them will be caught out?

My reading of this is that free broadband helpline calls for people to ring from Virgin landlines, will end as from end of June. Fro July there will be a premium number ([FONT=Helvetica, Geneva, Arial, SunSans-Regular, sans-serif][SIZE=2][COLOR=black]0906 212 1111) not an 0870 number to ring for assistance which is going to cost an arm and a leg. Am I wrong?

Guys, at the moment its free and the call centre people in India are so effing useless. I have spoken to them on numerous occasions, an average phone call lasts 40 minutes. They tell you things and ask you questions which you have answered 20 minutes previously. They tell you to do the things you told them you've already tried. I would say the average person on here has more knowledge and common sense then those bozos do.

And now they want to charge for it? They can stick it.

Oops just realised this thread is obsolete. But yeah...umm....they should pay you when you call them. Bye *hides*
