Virgin media - broadband only package

Can anyone let me know what is the best price Virgin will offer for the Broadband size m only package. Was paying £11 per month and they have now put this up to £18. I am with Sky for TV and phone and have a very good deal with them so do not want to swap them over to Virgin.
My other concern is if I change broadband provider is there a way of getting emails that would have been sent to my old email address diverted for a period of time so that I can make sure I notify all the sites I use of new address

They put my BB+phone up to £29 so I just said I could get it cheaper with sky so they dropped it to £27. So I effectively pay £16 for my BB.

If you want to save lots of money you could cancel your sky and steal cable.

Or if you dont use the phone that much get a skype phone with a skype land number.

Go with o2 for your broadband at a tenner a month upto 8mb depending on area.
If you have a 02 mobile its only 7.50
For satellite get a moveable dish installed and a hacked card for all the channels
Sorted.

20mb is 15 a month or a tenner a month with o2 discount (correction)

Ring them up and tell them you are not happy with the increase and will leave unless they sort out a dicount for you. I was with Virgin and used to do this quite often and they always were very helpful and good with the discounts. I had tv broadband and tel and would change tv packages for the kids sometimes, when i was on the phone i would ask whether they could do anything better with my account and they would do silly things like up the speed of my broadband which then fell into some sort of deal and it then made my bill cheaper for some reason. I am now with O2 and pay £12.50 a month for wireless with all the equioment free. Hope this helps

They did this to me and I called them up and told them could get it cheaper elsewhere and they offered it to me for £11 per month for another 6 months, he did say that after 6 months he would automatically add the discount to my account again. I will be checking that this happens and if not calling them again.

The £11 is with paper billing, it may be possible to get it for £10 if you remove paper billing.

Make sure you do check as there full of bull when it comes to these "we'll add it back on in 6 months" offers.

you should never be paying VM their advertised prices. You can easily get 30-50% off with a quick phone call to them. As I say, I pay £4.50 per month for M BB.

You shouldn't make such statements in isolation. You pay £4.50 for a slow M bb because you have subscribed to another service. VM (M) bb in practice is a 1mb service, belive me, I have been there. It's too expensive for £10. O2 8mb (true) service is £10 per months if you get a mobile phone and topup £10 every 3 month.

8mb service = £12.50
discount for mobile user £5
net price £7.50
mobile top-up £10 every 3 months = £3.30 per month.
Total cost for broadband 8mb = £7.50 + £3.30 = £10.30 per month.

It's a very good and reliable service which hardly falls below the advertised speed. (VM is always below the target speed).

They are only below if you have the analogue service - which is the same as BT etc etc. I have had VM BB at two different uni addresses and at home and it has always been at the speed I am paying for, never been slowed down or anything. So in my opinion they are a good provider, and generally if you phone and complain they will lower the price for you. (Done this before when they upped my bb price and it ended up being a pound cheaper then before)

Im on 'L' bb and have been paying £25 pm for about a year. I called about a year ago and they was saying the only thing they can do is i can add a landline and pay £27 pm for both the bb and landline. but I dont want a laneline as I wont use it. I also get the £10 pm 300 txt and 300 x-network sim from vm. previously I was getting half price rental for a year.

Im thinking if I should get o2 internet, but might cost more, depends on what conteract deal they got on the nokia 5800 or n96,(maybe iphone) etc as I thinking I want a new phone. I wouldnt be willing to pay more than £35pm line rental, than £7.50 for bb and than I would need to get a phone line from BT I think thats £12.00.

I wonder if I should call them again, I sort of dont phone them as I have been downloading quite alot and dont want them to lower my speed

What are you going on about?

I have no problem with my speed and must download about 6gig a day. I pay £4.50 for the BB service which is excellent value.

I would have to pay the telephone regardless as funnily enough, I want one :whistling:
