Virgin media notice

I just gave 30 days notice to virgin in a fit of rage at their dire service.

I've now realised there are probably no cheaper options. I dont have a bt line at my house either and im sure that costs money to install.

My question is, are they likely to call me to entice me back. Also can i change my mind and stay with them.

I thought they'd have offered you some deal before you gave them the notice, that was how it used to work.

What are the issues with the service? I was with them for years and never had any issues, their cable broadband service is awesome. I had to leave them when we moved as there is no fibre in our village :o(

I would rather live without broadband than give BT a penny - worst company ever to deal with.

Mainly billing issues and dire customer service where they charge for things they shouldnt charge for and call centre staff in sri lanka that drive you mad.

The actual service itself is fine so thats why i dont really want to leave, i think i went a bid overboard and the silly cow didnt try to placate me she just took my notice.

A friend of mine just cancelled their Virgin hoping to get a discount even asked if they could reduce monthly otherwise they were going to Sky, Virgin said nope sorry, so I doubt they will call you back

Can i cancel the notice period if necessary and stay with them if need be?

phone them and ask if you are on the best price plan, if yes then say you will stay. if not ask to be reduced.

Yes they will let you.

I thought you went to UK call centres during the day and offshore out of hours. Maybe that has changed since I left them though.

I would have asked to speak to someone in the UK before cancelling.

Due to one of their billing errors I previously had the XL TV package for free for the life of my contract.

It was the uk closure team i deal with. Cocky cow i dealt with. I will wait a couple of weeks and if nothing will call back

I gave notice to Virgin a couple of months ago & got a call back a little later with my disconnection date but they also had a look what they could offer me & got a good offer so took it. I'd hold out for them ringing you back

Virgin are so inconsistent, all depends who you speak to, sometimes you can play poker and get a discount other times they don't wanna know, roll the dice and take a chance I say.

Im with BT for my phone line and to be honest ive found them brilliant, my bills per month are around £20.00 and very rarely go over, ive tried sky, swalec,talk talk and all were rubbish with massive bills every month. we have O2 for broadband which aint great and we'll be leaving as soon as we can, Sky for the TV and fingers crossed never had a problem with them, we dont have cable in our area so couldnt consider Virgin.

I did the same...Cancelled because I thought I was paying too much, thought they would offer me a deal when I mentioned cancelling but not a peep so I let it go through. 1 week before contract was to be cancelled I got a call from "Rentions" and was offered a deal to stay with them.

10MB BB
Phone with evening a weekend call
New HD box but only the freeview channels
Free installation

All for £17.24 a month.

Was getting only the first 2 for £22.?? a month before.

Would have been £13.?? if I accepted the an 18 month contract on the telephone but did not want to do that, wanted all 3 to be on a 12 month contract.

The person who took your call probably wasn't in the retentions dept so just put the cancellation through. I guess now your account will get passed to retentions who'll try and keep you on when it looks like you're leaving. Wait it out and if you don't hear back, call up to ask to stay. I did the same as I thought I'd cancel and re-sign up as a "new customer" to take advantage of a good offer for new customers, but decided I couldn't be bothered with the hassle so phoned back stayed.

Im payin £18 just for broadband, i cancelled once before and no offer, so 2 days before it was cancelled i rng up and said im staying.lol. they said thats ok.

i am now gonna cancel and then come back next year as a new customer so atleast i will get a new router and modem hub in one. soo annoyin having both a seperate modem and router.
