Virgin Media - cos sky have messed us abt

Just got a better deal on Virgin Media (thanks to the thread on here)

Virgin for internet alone. It's faultless in my eyes!

If Virgin are successful in bringing back Sky One then they get my vote. Without it the service is a very poor second. Broadband and the newly reduced Talk Anytime packages are great though. I'm in two minds who gets my vote, but then I'm a schizophrenic!

Virgin!

Cable broadband is just fantastic, never had a problem in all these years where as on adsl it seemed to be one thing after another.

TV, personally I don't miss sky one at all. I'm happy with the channels you get on the package I am on. The TV On Demand service is just brilliant same with the free music vids and the catch up service. I find the V+ box slow at changing channels but thats the only thing that bothers me.

Sky beats Virgin hands down on HD channels for now though.

Voted Sky cos VM lied multiple times to me and poor tv lineup with new chans. post losing Sky, ****** speeds at peak times

Sky = £110 quidco, easy to blag half price/discounts etc, you can use your own hardware on Sky (several rooms on FTV here), when ITV goes HD with Channel4 following them, I'll be defecting to Murdochville next year.

Sky because Virgin Media isnt in my area!

Are Virgin Media expected to bring back Sky One then? As you said "If Virgin are successful in bringing back Sky One" and not If virgin media bring back Sky One..

It seems everyone miss's Sky One. But i got my TV package after the channel was gone, so i dont know what i'm missing. Although the simpsons, prison break and lost sound excellent.

Virgin Media gets my vote btw!

Virgin Media have lost loads of subscribers TV/Phone/Broadband due to losing Sky One with people defecting to Sky ADSL/TV and BT for the phone. I've always been a sky subscriber even when I worked for what was Telewest as an engineer. The only + for Virgin is the VOD but otherwise Sky all the way for me.

75% of the population will concur with that then, meaning Sky wins by default really, this vote is rigged! ;-)

Remember, virgin media was NTL.. And NTL wernt a very big company. So they dident cover many area's. Now that NTL is virgin media, virgin media doesent cover many areas because NTL dident. But virgin media are now a bigger company and expanding there cable areas alot more!

My household've been with Virgin Media since they were Cable & Wireless, so they get my vote, even though I'm not terribly happy with them and their Indian call centres.
#15
Virgin gets my vote:thumbsup:

A happy VM customer,BB is great, never really watched sky 1 anyways, and if I really want to watch sky news, got a freeview box!

Catch up tv is something I often use, occasionally use on demand and now I've got V+ box life is dandy.:)

So...to sumarize

Ntl was bought by Virgin and they cover 75% of the Uk
:whistling:

:p

Personally I would go for Sky (HD) every time, we have both due to an NTL billing anomaly. Sky customer service is poor but then Virgin hardly cover themselves in glory whenever I ring.

And I am not convinced Virgin can offer anything on a par with Sky+.

The indian call centres are there biggest complaint, there looking to move there call centres to the UK ASAP.

The sooner the better as far as I'm concerned. I wouldn't mind to be honest, could they understand what I'm saying, and I speak clearly!

75% of the population? This map seems to disagree with that. NTL wasn't bought by Virgin, it was a merger of Virgin Mobile and Ntl: Telwest that created Virgin Media. Article regarding the merger/takeover here

Physical coverage does not by any means correlate to percentage of homes.

As far as I know, NTL and Blueyonder combined only covered 25% of UK homes.

Happy to be proved wrong though.

20million homes in the UK iirc?

VM: 3.7million custards
Sky: 8.2million custards

Off the top of my head figures...

Virgin are currently taking Sky to the High Court in attempt to get Sky One back on the air. This may take some time though. In the meantime Virgin 1 and TV on demand is not a substitute. Lets hope they get a result before the new seasons of Lost, Atlantis, Galactica star to air in January.

sky as the virgin box, in my op, is very slow, changes channel really slow, pages freeze, really hated it! was glad to go back to sky plus! virgin media=yak!!!

Which kind of makes this poll pointless!

I dont use sky or Virgin. My BB is with Be and far better than either and my satellite is whoever I can get - and always better than either of these! eg more premier Football games than both of them put together and include Santenta in that number. Oh - and the satellite is free!:whistling:

Cant believe anyone can be that happy with either of them!

I havent voted as we use both. Virgin for BB and sky for TV, and BT for phone.

Sky is better for TV, I dont care about virgins on demand as I never watched it, its full of junky programes you wouldnt want to watch, have already watched, or already have on DVD, thats when it worked. Plus the fact virgin couldnt get my bill correct what so ever for 6 months and so I told them to shove it.

Virgin is the best for BB (its the only thing they havent screwed up) as I cannot get over 7MB with BT, which just isnt good enough for me, I need speed.

BT for phone as I never trusted virgin with my phone calls, I know full well i never made that many calls costing under 50p, but after all the messing about with them for 6 months, I had that cut off too.

I learned the hard way, never put all your eggs in one basket, which all these companies now want you to do. It takes all control away from you when you do this, and they treat you like dirt (yes I mean virgin).
