surly they can't i payed £50 for that box, so as far as im concerned that's mine, they can take it if they give me my £50 back...

'V+HD box remains the property of Virgin Media' from T&C the money was for the installation, basically you are renting the box from Virgin. I agree it's a joke.

Nope I think that is an installation charge. Either way the boxes remain property of Virgin Media.

You can tell them you've moved house and left the box at old address...thats what i did then sold the box to someone local who chips them.

Virgin property unfortunately

yeah that would be selling goods which arent yours to sell, technically comes under selling stolen property. and anyone who buys would be receiving stolen goods.
plus it wouldnt work, cos the box and smart card are paired together and paired with your account.
which wouldnt be active anymore.
virgin won't activate a box or card that hasnt been supplied by them
theres no point in anyone trying to mod it, since the Nagravision 3 encryption will kill it anyway.

so just give it back to them, it wasnt ever yours anyway

Just hope they don't chase you for it...

I left them in September/October last year, heard nothing from them about collecting the box until about a week ago I received a random phone call from someone saying they were calling on behalf of Virgin to see if I still had the box. Told them I'd left it in the property, which was knocked down about 2 months ago...so they'd have a hard job getting that back in one piece lol.

mint. of course whoever you sold it to, if they modded it, its only a matter of time before it stops working anyways.
it may already have done if N3 is active in the area

that would be theft, and anyway you would be lucky to get a fiver from it now as they are useless without a subscription

you mean £50+ right... you checked ebay lately?

one of the other reasons they take the equipment back now is the ability to chip the virgin tv boxes which give you all the virgin channels for free

And also the fact they are rolling out updates on their lines to stop these chipped ones working I believe.

Its only a matter of time, people will come up with ways to bypass N3

it seems to be perfectly acceptable to a lot of folk on here to steal cable or sat services, pirate music and films and try to get one over on retail outlets by claiming theres a fault with an item they bought when there isnt, they just want a refund cos they've changed their mind.

I was never actually thinking of selling it, I simply. Wanted to keep it for recording the formula one, the selling was a joke that I think you've got a little wound up about! Chill out dude

apologies, its just I used to work for a firm where one of the partners was doing dodgy boxes and he got caught, the business raided and we all spent a night in jail cos of him.
then he was prosecuted by Virgin Media and myself and another tech were made redundant.
