Ok, I know this is only for existing customers who are out of contract but please dont vote cold just because you are in contract / not a customer.

I was unhappy with the deal i was offered by Virgin media by calling 150 then "wanting to leave virgin media" option. So i decided to give 30 days notice. the bast they could do for the above was £26.94

They have just rang up and I have been offered 10GB BB free evening & weekend calls & 0845 0870 calls for £14.44 with the first month free. 12 month contract.

so total for 12 months = £158.54 Bargain, for fast BB and calls & line rental. no need to rely on quidco.

I could have had calls free 24/7 for an extra £2 and or 20GB BB for £2.50 extra.

I have a deal, then some rolling credits

oh by the way the woman said (she had only been working there 3 days) that if you are switching to BT then, they will call from a different department & can be even cheaper.

Oh yeah she is sending out in writing - so i have a copy for my records.

Thats all very well but what if they never phoned you back after saying you want to cancel? You are then left without BB and Phone!
#3
you can stop cancelling at any time ( just ring them and tell them you wish to stay) , everyone get the calls they are desperate to keep customers!

It will go cold though as you have to be existing and call up etc..

Not available off the shelf.

Its a deal. Just not for everyone. Like the armed services or NHS deals which usually get voted hot.

Reported to be moved back to deals so I can add heat

of course its not a deal. it was a one off deal negotiated by the op so would be different for every caller

The deal is - if you are with Virgin and you cancel and tough out the 30 days notice period, you will almost certainly get something better than you are currently on (if not jsut phone and say you want to stay on day 29) - have done it myself before. Phoning retentions and saying you are thinking of leaving just doesn't cut it........

yeah, thought everyone knew that. I do it all the time too but it certainly isnt a deal as it isnt guaranteed and will vary from one customer to another

So from this can I take it that phoning to leave no longer secures the best deal, you have to wait for a call back? Is there any way to prompt that department to phone back again, as I missed the call and Mrs Anon didn't appreciate the importance of the call as I hadn't briefed her ... I don't really want to waste BT or any other telco's time requesting a transfer just to bluff VM. How close to the end do they call back?

Many thanks
