I downgraded my service from vip to large tv +l/broadband.I offered to buy the v+ box,and they said Icould have it for £75.After having second thoughts about this package of £41 per month + £75 payment for the box,I phoned them to ask to forget about the v+ box and to drop us down to a basic package, they replied that I would have to still pay £75 for the v+ box because that would be for the installation a year ago,and to drop down to a basic package of small tv,small broadband and phone would still cost...yes £41. HOW THE HELL DO THEY WORK THAT OUT...

I had similar problems when Virgin media was NTL, I switched to Sky and BT and have never looked back, NTL was a nightmare, bad customer services and deals that looked good at first but where complete rip offs, I will always advise people to stay away from NTL....even if they have changed their name to 'Virgin media'

"Offered to by V+ box?" - Do you mean upgrade your existing cable box to a V+ box?

I'm on XL TV, Large Broadband and standard telephone, with V+ box for £38 per month (£37 less ebilling discount).

I'm sure I only paid £50 for the V+ box upgrade.

that basic price they quoted you is madness
you can see what i get and what i pay in the pic below (not quite the basic package but cheaper than they have quoted you)

ring them up and ask for a loyalty package for staying with them, as you can see thats what I got, without the loyatly package mine would of been £43.95

But without the XL TV package, which includes Setanta Sports and all the on demand and replay stuff (ie: everything except Sky Movies and Sky Sports), you'd have to pay £5 per month extra just for the V+ box.

When did you renew your contract with them, what month last year?

For me it was July 2008.
