add £19 line rental to all those prices making them unbelievably expensive over the term of the 18 month minimum contract

for example, take the minimum one which is basically freeview and lowest BB speed and talk weekends

£12 a month for 12 months then
£26 a month+ Virgin Phone line £19 a month
18 month contract
£14.99 activation fee applies

= £36.50 per month average!

plus, I thought minimum BB was 70mbps now with vm oO

Indeed old customers were upgraded to 70 but looks like new customers get 50. Let me guess they'll offer them a "free" upgrade and increase price later.

I am an old customer on 50mbps. Better ring them up to see if I can get 70 mbps. Does anyone know if they will throw in the new super router 3 for free?

Yeesh.

Still, I'm on basic TV and 200mbs and it's just under £50. Joke.

Think we're out of contract so gonna cancel and sign up under my name for a discount

In this instance it shouldn't be a cold button but a "foad" button << it's one of those internet acronym slang things

Don't search it if you are offended easily.

You don't need to do that

Just tell them that if they don't give you the deal then you will do it - they are quite happy to action rather than have yet another account opened just for the benefit of the deal - tis what I did

Good luck with that with the speed upgrade, the router is easy to get hold of but if you've got super hub 2 and no need for voip I wouldn't bother.

The free speed upgrade was a massive gimmick, if you actively renew your deal with Virgin Media (which most people do because you need to with VM) you was instantly disqualified from the speed upgrade.

I never got it, complained and I was told the speed wasn't even available to offer because the packages start at 50, and that was around March this year.

My brother whilst he got it, is now out of contract wants a better deal is finding the deal offered reverts back to the lower original speed.

We're in 12 mo contract and got the upgrade for "free" like we've gone from 10Mb > 30Mb > 50Mb and now 70...

It just pops up in MyVirginMedia, perhaps depends on area and the free bandwidth available for them...

With the price increase coming in November, you can certainly ask to get 70mb upgrade maybe they'll do it knowing you can leave penalty free anyways.

They'll do a lot more than offer you a free 20mb speed increase.

Indeed they'll offer 6 months credit of £3 for the increase as well which is crap too, you can probably talk your way into free activation of the SH3 too but SH3 sucks and the SuperHub2 is better.

We sent our cancellation in so we'll see if we get a call back to get a much better deal.
