I have to say i've never really had any problems with virgin, We used to have BT and it was an absolute nightmare. Vowed never to go with them again.

£80 a month? For what?

Phone is about £11 a month for the account, plus cost of calls.

Broadband you can get for £10 a month or less.

So where does the £80 come from.

Why not keep the BT phone and cancel the broadband. That should bring the cost down to JUST for the phone.

Then get broadband with someone else.

I left BT for the same reason & have been with Virgin since (a few years now).
On the whole I'm very happy with them, the price has gone up but still reasonable & I get a good deal with other aspects too such as mobile phone.

I have BT and have their broadband too. Never had any problems with them whatsoever.
My bill is always between £115 + £120 every 3 months and i hardly use the house phone.
Don't know why your's is double that???
You (or someone else in your household), must be using the phone a lot more.

I have been with Virgin for almost 7years, no problems whatsoever... they are always willing to 'match' new customer deals so I am always getting a great package. At the moment I am paying £25 per mth for the 'M' phone line, 'M' TV Package and 'L' Broadband (10mb).

£95 mine is with Bt every 3 months.
£15 a month for the phone and then every 3 months a £50 for the internet turns up!

Have you scanned the computer for a dialup trojan?

Has BT shown why the phone bill is so high?

Virgin mobile phone calls and landline phone calls are more expensive than some providers, but I have the XL broadband/TV/Phone package and am satisfied enough with it.

You sure no one is using the phone excessively while you're out? We had that same problem too, we just couldn't figure out why our bill was so high, only to find out my sister had been using the home phone to phone random peoples mobile phones of facebook and myspace. She always did it when we went out so now we have to either take the home phone out with us or hide it. She never learnt her lesson even till this date (now 18) if she gets the chance she will not put a second of thought into it. Some people just never or take too long to grow up.

I have been with a few providers over the years.
At the mo I am with both Virgin & Sky.
Imo.... Sky is best for TV, we have the large package and HD and Virgin is best for internet, very fast.

Not really enough info from the OP. A breakdown of the charges would help.

unreal how much some people pay for a service that they say they barely use

£40-£80 per month for a phone is ridiculously high

I pay VM £18.99 for line rental, free talk weekends and 10MB BB. Calls come to about £4 per month.

I don't even have the phone connected to my BT line it is so much cheaper to use the mobile now and have inclusive mins especially as i found that most landline calls were been made to mobiles anyway.

yeah I use a throwaway house mobile when calling other mobiles (8p per min with ASDA, 4p per text).

We pay £15pm with virgin, get XL phone (unlimited 01,02,03 calls) and L broadband (10mbit) and M TV? (I think it's M, their basic package)

Just be carefull with Virgin my daughter went on a phone spree has teenagers do and rung up a bill of over £300 in a week due to their very expensive mobile calls (especially to 3 at over 30p a min peak). Another reason i no longer have a phone connected.

Rubbish, only badly brought up Teenagers who have no respect for other peoples money would do that.

Do you really live in the real world probably not making a statement like that
