no idea but id phone customer services, Tell them youve seen this price and ask them to price match it. If they dont, threaten with going elsewhere. They might call your bluff tho so be prepared to follow through if necessary

the only thing i can think of is a bt line rental - but i think we pay line renal at the mo

grrrr

Yep, I agree. That offer could be for new customers though. Why don't you phone them and complain? You may get offered a better deal.

Need to talk?

There is an 0800 number but I can't find it. You could dial 150 on your Virgin phone.

Well, ive been paying £18 a month for 1 mg broadband from them. ( i dont have a landline, or even the wiring etc needed for it so i had no choice but to go with them)

Popped into town the other day and there was a virgin van offering 2 for £20, 3 for £30, or 4 for £40.

Choices were 2mg broadband, phone line, telly or mobile sim card.

I was well miffed, and went and ordered 2mg broadband and a landline quite sharpish!

Its a shame when they dont sort out there exsisting customers.

Only reason ive upgraded is so then ill have the equipment for a landline so i can switch providers cos i dont rate virgin (still NTL to me :p)
As if i went with BT theyd charge me to do the fitting.

The broadband you have signed up for is cable broadband......the link you have shown is for non cable broadband(adsl) that will come through your telephone line.Dependent on how far you live from the exchange the speed can vary(That is why they quote 'up to' 8meg) the chances of getting 8 meg are very slim.

Cable broadband is delivered to your home direct through fibre optic cable and is a much better option....your speed will be 2meg constantly, all the time and no throttling(as happens with adsl during peak periods).

In May they are going to be increasing speeds of cable broadband also, for no extra charge.

Ring up by all means and see if you can negotiate a better deal, but they are two different services.

well as far as i know - the 2mb broadband will not be increased - ive spoke to a few virgin folk about this - and they say the 20mb is increased - but not sure about the others

is it worth having cable over adsl?

I am not too sure about which speeds will be increased,in all honesty,i know for sure that the 10 meg is increasing....they often upgrade sppeds across the board though,so other increases may be on the cards in the future.

Cable over adsl any day of the week and twice on sunday!!!

Spiders!!!!!!!!!!

so its worth sticking with cable then

also i have a feeling i have a funny shaped box in the house- that already has cable

so i think - and i mean think - i might be able to get them to post the connection kit to me - because my current installation date is the 18th of april - and i want xbox live more than i want oxygen
#9
Yup,stick with cable,'specially if you want to do online gaming.......it is not just a case of plugging it in though, the box to your house still needs to be set up by an engineer etc.....patience dear boy(?) patience:-D
#10
well the cable is already laid

according to virgin they can post you the kit

im a eager bloke you know! - plus i have ordered guitar hero and i want to download stuff when it comes

Well, .... (still NTL to me :p)
You must be well younger than me, :whistling: I still think of them as Cable & Wireless, and in those days they knew what CS was  . I need to ring them again but they have soooo many packages you get tied up in knots, I am already on 8meg broadband and they keep wanting to reduce it... :x

Double check....but I think that they can post the kit if you go adsl route, not cable because of the type of coax cable that is used. You still need the engineer,I am almost ceratin.

i will sit on my hands then
grrrr! cable!!!!!

its erotic!

We went from BT to C&W because they did the TV package and their CS was just ACE, NTL have been OK at least they put their call centre in India like 3 did, it is so grrrrrr trying to understand them and the last thing you need when you are all up tight is to find someone on the other end of the line that cannot understand you :x the woman from 3 told me to stand near the window if I had problems with the signal, where are you standing when you say you can't get a signal and I will check it out for you, she said. I said i am standing in the middle of Gatwick. Ah NO I don't have that on my map of coverage, maybe you need to move to an area where there is more people and business's. I told her I could see three masts and I am in the middle of them. Grrrrrr again. How annoying, I think most peeps in the UK would know where gatwick is

wow, i followed that link and actually thought that was a great price seeing as i dont have cable. 14.99 unlimited up to 8meg? so i phoned orange for my mac code and a guy asks me why. so i tell him im looking for a cheaper offer. Now, i have the wireless livebox with 8meg unlimited and pay 19.99, and he offered me the same package for £12.99!!

granted its adsl, and i only manage 2meg, but 12.99 and unlimited and wireless!!

Bargain, i damn near bit his hand off when he offered it lol.

That explains why they are putting the price for my broadband up £2 a month from April!

I wouldnt stay with orange - they are the worst internet provider EVER (even proven by the watchdog survey!)

If you have virgin phone line you can get virgin media for free you know.....http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=57855

been with Diamond Cable/Ntl/Virgin for years - haven't paid full price for BB for about 2 years now - kept ringing up every 3 months and they'd give me it half price for another 3 months

now got rid of sky and taken ntl tele as well - 2 phone lines evenings and weekends free, large TV and 4mb BB for £45/month which I didn't think was too bad - price fixed for 12 months

I just ring up sales and ask for a set of services and say 'best price now please'!

Have BT connection (not actually connected) so if I need to change I will
