You become deaf and mute when there is no whiff of Brexit! Say "i", open your mouth, I give you "i" and don't ask me for the other vowels like "e" and "u".

Comments like this lose some of their power when the person making them has such a poor command of the English language.

Chinaman is considered offensive by most people with social graces by the way.

Why do you consider Chinaman as being offensive? He's a man from China.
I'm a man from England, I don't consider being called an Engishman as offensive?

Whether I consider it offensive really isn't of any importance, just as you considering it inoffensive is of no importance.

I find it amazing that I have to say this to someone, but that not how language works.

Was he trespassing somewhere where he shouldn't have been and ignoring the security guards warnings ?

this should be more of a debate on the availability of guns in the US, the private security guard should not have been armed.
this kind of crime happens day in day out in america, it most probably will during the lifetime of everyone on this forum.

Unfortunately with USA's current gun laws it's probably a requirement in some states for security guards to be armed.
Whether that's a fault of the laws, the education or history it does need fixing but I doubt it will never be fixed in my lifetime and probably longer.
Why this is news is because it's a Chinese man shot and killed in a car park supposedly doing nothing except playing Pokemon and it's to stir up more negativity towards Trump and his presidency.
If it was a black African American killed by a white American it would of been more wildly publicised yet if it had been yet another black African American killing a whit American you would most likely never hear of it as it's not in the medias interest to publish such news.

For me, as per the content of the article, there is insufficient detail (still being investigated) to give my own personal view. That said there must of been a reason why a gun was drawn

to put it in perspective, the US has roughly 30 × more people killed with firearms pro rata than us. so if their population is 5 times the size of ours, for every 1 fatality in the UK they have 150 involving firearms ( just a very rough calculation)

Calling somebody a 'Chinaman' is not only offensive but is also incorrect by your own interpretation:
You are from England..you are an Englishman..not an Englandman
Somebody from China is a Chinese man/woman.not a Chinaman

Ironically nobody knows better than the Chinese what it's like to have your language policed.

No offence splender, but I really do think that some English language classes would be beneficial to you.

I really hate when people do this on the Internet. My grammar and punctuation isnt great either but do you know what helps improve it reading and involving yourself in discussions on forums. I'm sure he already knows and has his reasons but should that stop him contributing on here?

I know people want the english language to be exact and accurate but in a forum, long as you get the point who cares.

I care. How is someone meant to learn if their mistakes aren't pointed out? I'm not going to bother pointing out minor grammatical mistakes but I think some pressure towards using correct English is a good thing, otherwise it's a slippery slope 2 txt spk innit.

You're right.
A quick google search and the first return is:

Chinaman

/ˈtʃʌɪnəmən/

noun

noun: Chinaman; plural noun: Chinamen
1. datedoffensive
a native of China.

Some other users would do well to read:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinaman_(term)
I don't think it holds as much venom as another phrase a few users on here are happy to use.

I am not surprised users such as shauneco are offended at you being offended. Some users on here are happy to brush derogatory terms off as acceptable because they refuse to adapt to modern values and customs. Rather than say "okay I didn't know it was offensive but now I do I'll stop" you get labelled as a libtard or a snowflake, etc

On another note it seems Splender seems to go out of his way to type that way. I think he's still using that old tactic of using as many words as possible to hit a Uni assignment word count.
