Have you tried restarting in safe mode Lou? Just restart and as you're loading back up hold F8 (I think it is!!) and select "safe mode" (everything will look huge, but that's normal!), then run your anti-virus and that should pick anything up! :) Hope that helps honey x

Have sent you a PM.

info was wrong

You can run an online scan through here:
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

See what that picks up and then follow any instructions to get it off your system.

Hope that helps :)

This site appears to be recommended by a few forums.

go to www.download.com and download superantispyware, spybot, AVG Free and Adaware SE. All very good and free ;D

oh and if that does not work then uninstall messenger and install it again, this will remedy the problem.

Delete your cookies.

This is a terrible virus, and then all people that open that link will also get the virus, so for now don't sign into msn. i had this and took me ages to get rid of it.

There are viruses in your deep registry. i used Adaware as it deep scans well - http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-2007/3000-8022_4-10045910.html
Then if that doesnt work, try using it in safe mode, and also deleting windows messenger obviously.

there was something else i did involving the registry keys, but can't quite remember, i will try and rack my brain
#30
thankssurfer, yes i have deleted messenger so it cannot be used, i will try your suggestions :)
#31
As mentioned earlier in this thread, you need to boot into safe-mode when running anti-spyware/anti-virus etc to be able to get rid of these sort of nasties.

It only spreads if people are silly enough to believe things like this:

"Hey check out this super old photo of us its so funny, lol!"
Then it trys to send you a zip file. You either message them and check they sent the invite or ask if you can have the picture not in a zipped folder.

yes it might seem silly but if your not aware its easy enough to clck without thinking, esp if its someone you know well

most people are this stupid esp msn users most of them are teenage idiots who know very little about computers etc

Glad you got it sorted Lou :)
