I'm a complete convert to Avast. Ditched AVG earlier this year as it's getting too bloated.

Have to agree Avast is good , for me anyway and you get a free home version from their site.

Dont go near AVG as it is useless

depends on where you put your downloads.

Installed things tend to be left @default eg C:\Program Files for most users, so scanning C: at least 1 time a week is a given. Full system 1 per month.

Speaking of Avast can someone that's using it check something for me please.

Click realtime shields / then click file system shield, then at the right click expert settings, then click exclusions

Can you tell me if *.vob *.mp3. *.avi *.mp4 are in there, thanks.

Would rather use CCleaner for that type of maintenance. Not keen on using browser software :p
I also use Spybot S&D (without Teatimer) and Adblock Plus is fantastic.

I use CCleaner and Malwarebytes, but once in a while check all is ok with this "cloud" software.

+1 for ms SE. had no problems and been using it for a while.

had avast for a while but you have to re-register every so often which gets annoying.
