ive bought a new laptop, dell which comes with vista business. anyone know if i will be able to put it on my other laptop aswell, or a friends? using the same code or whatever? the other laptop it would go on is dell also

No. As they come pre installed with Windows on with a recovery disk.

Eh no, security is a big part of Vista now, any copies could see your one unsupported from future updates etc, sorry kid :-(

thought with business ud be able to put it on more than one machine legally. its the same laptop dell inspiron 6400 both the same only mine will have more ram and bigger hdd......thought it would be legal to put on 2 of ur laptops...

also i dont mean to copy it..i just meant to use my recovery disc on both laptops...

Depends on the license. I suspect you would have the one user license.

lol ok...it will tell me somewhere tho right??

i just thought the business one abled you to put it on more than one machine...as would be expensive to have a business and pay for loads of licences lol....im not going to do anything illegal...

You pay extra for multiple licence's. If you install it on a 2nd laptop with the same COA then one of them will be blocked from updates etc.

You should be able to copy the recovery partition to your other dell and do a restore and then have the same system installed on both laptops. That should work with no trouble.

You might have an issue later IF Microsoft are able to detect that the same licence number is installed on two different computers. You could end up (as someone has stated) unable to carry out any updates.

Your decision.
