Hi
Our desktop computer is currently running on Vista, currently everyone who uses it has their own profile with a password, but I would prefer to set it so that before anyone can use the computer I first have to put in a password to allow them access to their profile. Is there anyway I can do this? Thanks in advance for any help.

you could always set their accounts to "restricted users" so as not to be able to change any settings etc and you put the password in for their profile - something they don't know of course

Thats an option but involves confrontation on asking for the passwords to be revealed so I can reset them. Would rather just add an earlier step in if poss, thanks for helping though. :)

not all bios systems let you do that. i was initially going to suggest bios but then realised it might be too complicated to explain as there are numerous bios systems out there plus like i said not all boards have the function of system password

if your account is administrator you don't need to ask them their passwords as you can just reset them in control panel...user accounts :)

if im not mistaken, you kinda want to have an extra screen appears before the user login screen. If im right, i think that will be much more complicated. #

I think It will involve either you creating a special program to run when window start OR tweaking vista registry to insert such page

When the computer first boots, there is a 'hotkey', usually f1 or del (depends on your pc/motherbord manafacturer), which takes you into a configuration menu for your PC. In there,
there is nearly allways an option to set a BIOS password, which means that you can set a password which will prevent the PC even booting into windows. DONT play with the other options is the BIOS, unless you know what you are doing.
