Help my Vista laptop has locked me out,My bro tried to tidy it up for me and now I am locked out. is asking for passwords and usernames that I didnt set up! I can only get in in safe mode, there is a techguys restore disc that you can burn on the startup but it wont let me do it in safe mode. Also Advent who make the laptop told me that if you press f8 there should be an option there for repair your computer, but mine is missing! told it is a common problem and if I download a fixit disc for repair your computer is missing, that I will then be able to access repair your computer on f8, but I have looked for a link for such a disc and cant find one, Please help if you can, thanks

Providing it is Vista it should work to get you into repair, if you are going to do a full format and install you will lose your info, pics etc, you just ned to boot from the disc.

Not on Vista, the backdoor was blocked for obvious security reasons. Whatever he tries to do it just won't work unlike XP where there were plenty of safe-mode workarounds.

Your best bet for recovery is:
http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/

Have you tried accessing the hidden admin account? Not too sure if it will work on safe mode but it is worth a try......

Right click on command prompt and select run as admin

then type: net user administrator /active

this should enable that account if it hasnt already been done :) hopefully it then lets you access pc from that account after you restart

Maybe a long shot but if when starting you hold down delete key it will take you into BIOS.
From there use arrow keys to navigate to set supervisor password.
Either leave it blank & press enter or add password of choice. Then Save & exit.
Brother might have mucked this up when 'helping'.
